these folks refused to even have a consultation with me in regards to racial discrimination and sexual harassment. the only information i gave them was my employer of where it happened, and that was enough judgement for them to turn me away. these people are protecting your local predators and probably chalking it up with those who are harassing younger women in the workplace. avoid these people AT ALL COSTS. especially if you’re a woman of color.
Thank you for your feedback. Our office receives many inquiries, and to evaluate potential cases we need some basic details about the events involved. Without that information, we cannot determine whether we can assist. Given our heavy caseload and duty to existing clients, we are unable to follow up on every inquiry to gather additional facts. I am sorry you felt dismissed—that certainly was not my intent. However, it is neither accurate nor fair to suggest that declining a consultation without any details means we are “protecting predators” or to avoid our law firm “especially if you’re a woman of color”—a factor you never mentioned. My decision was based solely on time, resources, and the lack of information provided.
How an attorney treats the opposing side speaks greatly to their ethics. After a confidential settlement agreement, attorney Brian Cartwright published personal private information about my past to a third-party in a disgusting attempt to discredit me. I don’t think the specifics matter so much as the fact that he does not care about confidentiality agreements. The attorney should be bound to a higher level of responsibility and confidentiality because of their licensing. Attorney Cartwright sees no issue publishing private information to third parties after a confidential settlement agreement. So if you thought your business would remain private, you’re in for a shock when he in fact will publish your business to third parties.
The person posting this review was the opposing party in a case I was involved in. The claims she makes against me in her post are incorrect. She voluntarily signed an agreement that does not include any confidentiality clause. It does, however, include a release of all claims against my clients and an express clause barring her from making defamatory statements. Unfortunately, she chose to violate that agreement by posting false allegations online, which led a third party to publish her own defamatory comments. Under the Texas Defamation Mitigation Act, I was required to send both of them formal requests for retraction. Texas law required the requests to specify the circumstances causing various statements made to be defamatory. In short, the language this person is now complaining about being disclosed to the third party was legally required — not optional — and was sent only to the third party for the sole purpose of complying with Texas law. I have represented my clients ethically, legally, and vigorously, and I will continue to do so.
