I'm honestly at a loss of words for Jason's hard work and commitment towards my case. He had a passion and drive that surpassed any expectation I could have ever perceived or dreamed at court. I was arrested for suspected DUI. I searched for an attorney. Google gave me several options. Some of them were cheaper, but I chose this firm because they made me feel like they cared during the intake process, and not like I was just another pay day. Alpert Schreyer represented me in a DUI case. From the time they started representing me and all the way through court, they were there for me. At first, the paralegals reach out to get you started on recovery. This process is extensive, however goes a long way in court and is well worth it. When the lawyers, Jason and Andrew, got involved, their expertise was obvious. They will make every effort possible to get the case dismissed and if that is not possible will get the best result possible from the judge. Best Possible Outcome I got myself in a pickle with serious legal issues due to a new DUI, with 2 priors, and one being less than 5 years. After online research and reading attorney reviews, I had a face-to-face meeting with Mr. Alpert. During our meeting, Mr. Alpert laid out a few "potential scenarios and possible outcomes in court". I retained him on the spot, and I was impressed with his legal knowledge, history, experience and comfort level I had with him. Mr. Alpert is very understanding, personable, and compassionate and this was certainly not his first rodeo. His demeanor, logic, and how he approached my case, along with excellent brief, yet clear communication skills enabled me to comprehend and fully understand what I needed to do as well as what was forth coming. Near the end of our meeting, he identified a long list of things and a clear road map of the work I would need to put in prior to trial to allow for the best outcome. Our meeting was followed up with an email from his administrative staff. It was clear to me he was knowledgeable with the law and legal aspects of my case. He is a busy attorney, which at first, gave me some concern, however, once we spoke before the trial, and I saw his excellent work in court, plus the respect they gave him, and how he interfaced with the prosecutor and judge was outstanding. I also learned independently from several others about his court room skills. It is very clear to me, my choice to have Mr. Alpert represent me was spot on. Further, if you find an attorney that is always available for your call and not busy in court or working cases, you might want to re-think whether they are the right choice to represent you. Before reaching out to this firm I made a very immature mistake as a 19 year old and got a DUI. I was lost and needed help and that’s when I reached out to JASON MILLER he was very local to me (Washington county, Fredrick county area). Jason was very professional with every step, never judging me for my actions but standing with me. Jason also did a very good job in court and explained everything about me to the judge very well. As a result with the help of this firm I saved over $1000 in fines. I had the absolute pleasure of being represented by Mr. Alpert and working with his office/team throughout the process. I was in Baltimore for the month working when I was stopped one night asleep in my car driving home. I had just worked a double shift, had a few drinks much earlier in the day, packed up my apartment and drove home that night. I was totally exhausted. The officer claimed that I smelled like alcohol and I performed a field sobriety test and then was arrested and charged with DUI, DWI, and reckless driving. I refused a breath sample at the station. This really was a low point for me in my life and I was very worried about the implications this would have on my career. I googled "Baltimore Board Certified DUI Lawyers" and found Mr. Alpert. He had great reviews online and I called to set up a consultation. The office called me back and I was speaking with an attorney a few hours later. Mr. Alpert then essentially gave me a pre-court check list to complete. This included AA meetings, alcohol courses and panels, and two weekends at Right Turn Impact. We spoke frequently leading up to my court date so I knew exactly what to expect. I showed up to court very nervous and met with Mr. Alpert who again explained that depending on the judge we might have to push the court date back. At this point, I really just wanted to get through court and work on moving forward with my life. He didn't love the scouting report that he had on this particular judge and the prosecutor was not offering any desirable plea deals. He recommended that we request a potential jury trial in order to have the court date pushed back and meet again with a different judge and prosecutor. I did not love the idea of pushing back the court date however I trusted Mr. Alpert and it ended up paying off in the long run! He recommended that I continue going to AA meetings until my next court date. I had already completed the rest of my alcohol education assignments. He also recommended that we hire an expert witness to testify on the affects of sleep deprivation and how closely it can mimic driving under the influence. This ended up being a total game changer in my case. The entire defense was based on the fact that I was not intoxicated but totally sleep deprived leading to me falling asleep behind the wheel. The expert witness was a medical professional with an extensive background in the research and known affects of sleep deprivation and driving. He read my police report and showed up to court with an extensive report detailing my arrest and field sobriety test essentially showing that sleep deprivation could cause everything in the video. He also had a stack of published research articles showing the affects of sleep deprivation and driving. I showed up to court again and met with Mr. Alpert and the expert witness. Mr. Alpert met with the prosecutor before court officially started and provide all of my rehabilitation documents along with the report from my expert witness. They went back and forth and eventually settled on dropping all of the alcohol related charges and settling for a PBJ for reckless driving and one day of unsupervised probation. I was at a loss for words when he told me this! I couldn't believe that Mr. Alpert was able to make this happen! We didn't even have to go in front of the judge to reach this agreement. I can not say enough about working with Mr. Alpert and his team. The way they prepared me throughout the entire process and his decision to push back the initial court date and hire the expert witness to really turn up the heat on the state with documentation supporting my story. I feel blessed that I found his team online and would recommend him to anyone!!
