I used Mr. James a few years back from a referral of a friend and I just want to share how he was extremely professional during the entire process. He checked in with me regularly, and I strongly will suggest him to others.

Andrew is a true asset to his field. Great communication and representation. I will definitely be keeping him in my contacts she I need legal counsel in the future. Highly recommend.

I practiced law in Hampton roads for many years and had many opportunities to see Andrew James in court. He was always prepar d and represented his clients well. I highly recommend him.

BLUF: I do not recommend you select Andrew K. James as your lawyer in a contested divorce case (Family Law). My complaints are as follows: 1) He is too laid back and lacks attention to detail. 2) His office was not what I consider to be a professional setting (e.g., boxes laying around, broken chairs in meeting rooms). 3) He did not dress professionally during our initial and subsequent meetings. During our second meeting, he wore flip flops, shorts, and a partially unbuttoned short-sleeved shirt. 4) Failed to communicate & overall lack of attention to my case. 5) I received no routine billing invoices from Mr. James. Actually, I received no invoices at all for the entire time I was "represented." Following my termination of his services, his Firm failed to mail me the invoice, as promised. I had to follow up with the Firm about a year later to obtain the invoice statement. 6) Without consulting me, Mr. James allowed the opposing counsel access to my personal counseling records. 7) After firing Mr. James, and subsequently hiring a "competent" Family Law Attorney, I realized Mr. James doesn't know anything about the tactics required to help a client reach their best outcome (either that, or he is just plain lazy). In any case, he had no plan of action and no apparent knowledge of the allowances within the law that my new counsel quickly identified. If I would have stayed with Mr. James, I would have been absolutely steamrolled in this process. In closing, perhaps Mr. James may be a good trial lawyer, a good criminal defense lawyer, or other type lawyer. However, I would not recommend him in a contested divorce case. He seemed disinterested (at best), made my situation worse, left me on a windy corner, and walked away with a really nice chunk of change. SG

Excellent lawyer! Have used him multiple times and he does a great job. Helped multiple members of my family and is fair in his pricing as well. Not afraid to fight in court either! Will continue to use him as needed

Mr. James did an excellent job. Very professional and kind. Kept us informed and made sure that we knew what was going on. I would recommend him to anyone.
