Melissa Denton spent over a year on my case and she did everyting possible for me in order to accomplish what needed to happen with my divorce. I was so scared about the possibility of being alone after being married with kids and having a lifestyle I would surely end up losing. Melissa walked me through the whole process and took the utmost care in answering my questions, providing information, and making me feel like she has my best interests at heart. She fought for my kids and helped mw with so many unexpected issues. I could not have made it through the divorce process without her guidance and expertise. First I will state the good, Melissa spoke very professionally to me and was very nice. She listened intently to my concerns and made me feel very heard. I paid Melissa 410$ for a one hour consult. I was told they would not take a contested case. I let Melissa know that my case though the other party may not be happy, would not be legally contested. I was feeling very hopeful about my case being taken on by this firm due to how thorough and understanding she was during my consult. After my consult I emailed asking what the next steps moving forward would be only to be told there was a large amount of cases on their workload and to contact back after the first week of October. I contacted back hoping to schedule the sometime the second week of October only to be told we cannot take your case and to look elsewhere. In the meantime I have been waiting while my case has continued to get worse hoping for this so go through as I am a single mother and the 410$ was not easy to just part with for a consultation. My honest opinion is though Melissa may in fact be a fantastic lawyer for the cases she chooses to take on, it was not professional or appropriate to to charge 410$ for an hour consult if she in fact knew she could not take my case at this time, this felt like a ploy to take my money and has left my pocketbook hurting while still searching for legal representation. By the time I pay another firm for a consultation I could be out another 200-400$ and still possibly not have someone willing to take this case at the end of the day. Charging for a consult when you know you cannot take a clients case is a very bad look for any reputable law firm or otherwise. Please be weary of the types of questions you ask about what a consult entails and what next steps would be before forking our hundreds in this economy.

While I reflect on the last year, with the changes, challenges, and court battles, I hope that Melissa Denton knows the monumental impact she and her staff made on my family’s lives. Melissa did great helping us working together on our divorce case.

This is the lawyer my abusive ex picked to represent him after kidnapping our son to another state. I don't have the means for my own lawyer and they bullied me to settle out of court, I agreed to it because a trial didnt seem like it was in n the best interest of my child, but i regret it now. They have tried to send me ppwk that violated our mediation agreement, I didn't sign until it was fixed. They aid and abet abusers.

I have worked with Melissa for several years (5+) as my family law case keeps returning to court. Melissa and her team have collectively been amazing in helping me win my case time and again. I have always felt heard and appreciated. The team has always been super responsive, even when I have been confused on the process and court filings by opposing counsel, Melissa has always clarified everything for me perfectly. Melissa was too busy for my case, she didn’t take the opposing attorney very seriously and this almost cost me loosing custody of my son. I obtained a new attorney who has taken the time to care and really worked through the case, and now things have turned out the way things should have originally. She was a very nice lady but family law can be dangerous when not taken seriously.
