I used this law firm and my attorney’s name was Chad. This man charge me $1500 to represent me in a case just to have it continued twice. I spoke to him one time had another court date and He didn’t show it when I complained before the judge for falsely being accused and my attorney not being their even the officer who was present left and the person who accused me was not there, and this attorney supposedly was in another court hearing and wasn’t able to attend the judge told me that he would be in later that day to represent me, but never did. After I arguing my case with the district attorney and the judge, they threw it out. I called Chad and asked him. Did he not think it was fair for him to reimburse me at least $1000 for me actually taking care and representing myself and he felt that he was do the whole $1500. I informed him that I will be calling the North Carolina by association on Monday and filing a grievance against him. This client was charged with misdemeanor larceny. Upon initial consultation, he told me that he had never been to the merchant accusing him of this. We agreed on my fee and I filed the Notice of Appearance.<br><br>In Wake County, all cases of this type begin in “Disposition Court”, where no law enforcement officers attend. The only result of an initial court date here is to plead guilty, or on this type of case, continue case to the officer’s assigned court date, which is what I did, by default. The second court date, when the officer is assigned to appear, this officer did not show up. Also, the complaining witness from the merchant was not there. When no witnesses for the prosecution show up, the Asst. District Attorney continues the case, not the defense attorney. That’s what happened on Mr. Sherrill’s 2nd court date. On the 3rd court date, I had a conflict in the afternoon with a Federal case, which always takes precedence over a state case. I went to the DA in the morning to inform her of this, so the DA and the judge knew I couldn’t attend. However, I asked the DA to text me if the witness from the merchant showed up that day. That person did not and the DA dismissed the case. When I informed Mr. Sherrill that the case was dismissed, (which is what he insisted he wanted as the only resolution at first consultation), he stated he wanted to “confront the person who accused him”. I naturally asked why because that was the exact person who never came to court. Mr. Sherrill then stated that he wasn’t pleased with the result, even though the results were exactly what he demanded. In short, I did not charge him to “continue the case twice”. The case was continued once by virtue of the system set up in Wake County. The case was continued a second time by the DA’s office. The case was dismissed on the 3rd court setting. The review he submitted is extremely misleading and not an accurate depiction of the services Mr. Sherrill received.
