I wish I could give them zero stars!!! I am about to settle a work comp case with permanent injuries, so I need someone to make sure I get what I am supposed to! I waited around all day to get a call back! Thanks for wasting my time!

Response from owner

Mr. Thomas, you called the wrong attorneys. Our records show that we responded to your call within just a few hours after you called our office and promptly advised you that we could not help you because we are medical malpractice attorneys not workers compensation attorneys. We do not advertise or solicit workers compensation cases and would have been unable to provide you with any legal advice concerning your possible settlement. - Rex Baker, Baker & Gilchrist

Obviously a "free consultation" is a lie. Not the only one who has said this so kinda surprised no one has tried to go after them for false advertisements. I didnt even get a consultation before being called and told no. I gave the online agent VERY MINIMAL information about why I wanted a consultation due to it being obviously sensitive private information. So not only will the NOT do a free consultation the will NOT tell you why. Their secretary is rude as hell as well with a basic voicemail if "they said they arent going to take your case bye" instead of what a PROFESSIONAL would say like "we regret to inform you etc" classy business being ran here.

Bethany, we regret that we were unable to help you and it is unfortunate that in response to your concerns we were unable to speak with you. We receive thousands of contacts a year and it is impossible for us to speak directly with everyone who contacts us. However we pride ourselves on being perhaps the only law firm in Indiana that concentrates in medical malpractice claims where one of the named partners actually reviews the concerns of each person who contacts us. The information about each call is always viewed by either Rex Baker or Caroline Gilchrist before a decision is made whether we think we can help the person who has contacted us. We of course can not explain in this reply why we were unable to help you but I encourage you to seek a second opinion from another attorney and we wish you the best.

Rex E. Baker and Gilchrist have gone above and beyond for my father while fighting and winning my him the maximum amount allowed by law on his case. This firm has worked very closely with our family to answer questions and with getting our father in being awarded the compensation he deserved after a serious misdiagnosis. Not only did this team win the case but worked with us each step of the way to ensure the amount awarded would also be protected by giving us sound advice about contacting professionals about financial and estate planning would recommend Baker and Gilchrist to anyone needing representation in a serious malpractice lawsuit.

These folks are dedicated attorneys who truly put their clients first. As a lawyer I'm stingy about who I refer my clients to for other legal matters. I want to make sure they get the utmost respect and effective representation. And Baker & Gilchrist always gets the job done! I highly recommend them for your legal needs.

I have known this lawfirm of Rex Baker and Carolyn Gilchrist for many years (decades, really). I have seen them evaluate cases for mutual clients, have seen them work on and complete cases, and they are always extremely well prepared and professional. I recommend them whole-heartedly, and without reservation. I have seen them settle cases, and I have seen them go to trial on cases, and I have read appeals they have been involved with. They are the real deal. The whole package. Honest, prepared, diligent, and ethically zealous advocates for their clients. They lead their clients through the law, and they do it very very well. I can choose to refer my clients to any attorney to assist my clients in medical malpractice cases. I have been in general practice since 1982, and when you have a medical malpractice case, you need attorneys who do that work and keep up with that complex law day to day, week in and week out. I choose Rex Baker and Carolyn Gilchrist, because that is best for my clients. The same care and legal expertise is available to anyone - just contact them. They will always be honest and realistic and will do what is best for their clients.

Rex Baker and Caroline Gilchrist are two of the top-notch medical malpractice and personal injury attorneys in the State of Indiana. Well-known in the legal community as smart and aggressive advocates, Rex and Caroline have the knowledge, skills and experience necessary to win your case. Without a doubt, I highly recommend Baker & Gilchrist for any individual or family that needs help with a personal injury, medical malpractice or wrongful death claim.

I experienced a bad outcome to a circumstance. Our life as we knew it was changed forever. After many tears and prayers we came across Baker and Gilchrist. A very strong intuition told us to contact them for their advice. They saw us through the worst time in our life. We had no idea what to do or where to turn. We only knew that something went terribly wrong and needed help. If I had to do it over again I would definitely choose them again. They are there when you need them.Without going into great detail we were pleased with the outcome. Thank You Caroline and Rex and staff for helping us when we were at our lowest point in life. We truly believe that God pointed us in your direction. Forever grateful

Baker and Gilchrist offer a free consultation on their commercials, but when I called and told my story to what sounded like a secretary, she told me she would write it up and give to one of the attorneys and call me back. She called me back and said they could not take my case. When I asked why, I was told she didn't know why and could not offer an explanation. They refused to tell my why. I had a valid complaint about a dentist and a bad procedure. They did not offer any advise and the secretary told me the number of the Indiana Bar Association and said I should call them. This was in bad taste and they do not give you a free consultation.

Response from owner

Lori, we appreciate your input and I hope that after your telephone conversation with Rex, you have a better understanding of how difficult it is for patients to successfully pursue a medical malpractices case under Indiana law. In Indiana we have to establish that a healthcare provider was negligent and that negligence caused significant and/or permanent damages. Each case must go through a peer review system before the claim can be filed in court. In other words, three physicians will decide whether another doctor's care was outside the bounds of what they think is reasonable. In our experience, the medical review panel process alone typically takes one to three years. Because these cases are so difficult and because we have years of experience navigating through the process, we have to be selective in making a determination as to which cases have a chance of success. While we are unable to speak with each person who calls, the information about each call is always viewed by either Rex Baker or Caroline Gilchrist before a decision is made whether we think we can help the person who has contacted us. We do not typically give a reason why we are not interested in pursuing the case because there may be multiple reasons why we are declining the case. For instance, we may have a concern that the statute of limitations is passed, that the problem is a risk of the procedure, that we have a conflict with the doctor (as he or she has treated one of our clients), or we cannot prove all of the damages are related to the negligence. However, the decisions not to take a case is only that of Baker & Gilchrist and another attorney may reach another conclusion.

Sincerely,
Baker & Gilchrist

I was referred a by a long time friend to Mrs Caroline G. From the beginning to the happy ending of my case I was informed the progress, professionally advised to make important informed decisions. I'm so pleased with her knowledge, professionalism , judgement , confidence as well as the best customer services of B&G employees.

I searched several personal injury attorneys, and none of them were concerned with my "small" case. B & G contacted me...they were thorough, patient, compassionate, and kept me informed all along the way. They were especially patient...I asked a lot of questions, and they always called me or answered me in a timely manner. Very down to earth, intelligent and so, so, kind. Caroline is an amazing and understanding woman. Everyone I dealt with at B & G treated me like I was an old friend they'd known for years...you just don't get that these days from most people...especially attorneys. Thank you for all you have done for me :)
