It seems unfair to give a 5-star review for a 100-star professional. I am a 40-year [now retired] career legal professional who began as a court reporter in the Midwest, then became a paralegal in Washington, D.C. and eventually “slowed down” [due to the birth of my children] and accepted a litigation paralegal position in Northern VA. I was no novice when it came to understanding the difficulties of personal injury/liability cases……until I became a Plaintiff myself. What a humbling experience to say the least. I was in pain, overwrought with emotion and anxiety and totally unable to be objective. While I was professionally familiar with many attorneys in the Northern VA area, I had no experience with Mr. Gladstone. On a Sunday afternoon, I sent multiple email inquiries to attorneys in both Fairfax and Prince William counties, looking to find someone who “felt” right. Not more than 20 minutes after sending the email, Brandon called me. I was gobsmacked to receive such a quick response, on a Sunday no less, as this was extraordinary for a successful senior partner in a litigation firm in Northern Va. From that first conversation, Brandon was informative, kind, compassionate, personable, honest, easy to talk to – rare traits for many litigators. His fee was more than fair, and I signed the retainer agreement. Initially, I attempted to ‘micro-manage’ Brandon and my case. My professional background compelled me to try to maintain control, despite the fact that I had zero ability to think logically or objectively. It wasn’t long before Brandon, firmly but gently, let me know that my need for control was not going to work in our relationship. On some level, I knew he was absolutely right, and I let go of the wheel. Thankfully. As for the way Brandon managed my case, I cannot find enough exceptional adjectives to describe what an incredible job he did. He responded to my emails promptly – often within minutes but never more than a few hours later. He called to discuss every progression in the case and always took his time speaking with me and made me feel as if I were his only client [despite the fact that my case was a somewhat small one in this field of law]. Brandon boldly and tirelessly advocated on my behalf. He listened to me with respect, compassion and empathy. But, most importantly, HE HEARD ME. He told my story through his pleadings as if he had been the victim. Several weeks prior to trial, Brandon successfully negotiated a settlement, with my consent, and I was so grateful to avoid the emotional trauma of having to proceed to trial. My experience with attorney Brandon M. Gladstone was a masterclass in professional negligence, and it left me questioning how this firm stays in business. Here's a breakdown of the nightmare that unfolded after I was rear-ended in Alexandria, Virginia. It started promisingly enough: Mr. Gladstone reviewed photos of the accident and eagerly took my case, promptly directing me to his preferred physical therapy provider. But that's where the competence ended. The police responded to the scene but didn't file a report—a fact Mr. Gladstone dismissed by insisting they were "supposed to" write one, repeatedly harping on how Alexandria police are "notorious" for avoiding reports. This wasn't just wrong; it was lazy. A senior insurance adjuster even questioned whether he was licensed to practice in Virginia, and a quick call from the police to me confirmed his error: Alexandria's threshold for mandatory reports is over $3,000 in damage per vehicle plus visible blood at the scene. Mr. Gladstone hadn't bothered with the most basic due diligence to verify local procedures. Why take cases in Alexandria if you're clueless about the rules? The incompetence escalated when the lead officer from the accident contacted me directly. He not only affirmed that the other driver was unequivocally at fault—citing her admission of a diabetic reaction and dismissing her flimsy lane-change excuse—but promised to reach out to the insurance companies himself, even providing body camera footage. I proactively looped in a higher-level adjuster, who collaborated with the officer and swiftly assigned liability to the other at-fault driver. All it took was one simple phone call to the police the day after Mr. Gladstone dropped me as a client to straighten everything out. Why didn't he make that call? Isn't that the bare minimum expected from a lawyer? If I hadn't been so hands-on, I'd have been left high and dry, accepting whatever scraps the insurance offered based on his misguided advice. His laziness could have cost me thousands. Then there's the physical therapy fiasco, courtesy of the firm's "arrangements." I wasted an entire day shuttling between the therapy center and doctor's office because Mr. Gladstone failed to confirm their billing policies upfront. It was a chaotic mess of miscommunications that screamed neglect—who sends a client into that without verifying the basics? Adding insult to injury, after his initial sales pitch with direct calls and texts, Mr. Gladstone had his assistant inform me he was dropping my case—no personal call, no explanation, just cowardice hidden behind staff. That's not just poor etiquette; it's abysmal client management that erodes trust and kills referrals. When I detailed the situation to a paralegal, the firm flip-flopped and offered to reinstate Mr. Gladstone. Why on earth would I trust him again after I'd already done his job for him? His tepid text apology—"I am sorry for the confusion about your case"—was the cherry on top. Confusion? No, this was outright incompetence and laziness. Imagine if a vulnerable client—like a disabled veteran or someone with cognitive impairments—walked into this firm without the ability to advocate for themselves. They'd be fed misinformation, miss critical steps, and likely settle for far less than they deserve, all because Mr. Gladstone and his team can't be bothered to do their homework or pick up the phone.
