I had the privilege of working with Belen on a complex legal matter that spanned over a year and a half. Final Update (Jan 2026): I filed a complaint with the Idaho State Bar in April 2025 regarding the interaction described below. The Bar’s letter states: “Based on the record and Ms. Meyers’ response regarding the events at issue, we do not find the requisite CLEAR AND CONVINCING evidence that her conduct violated the Idaho Rules of Professional Conduct.” (emphasis in original) The matter was therefore reviewed and dismissed. I remain confident in my account of the interactions I experienced, which do not align with later characterizations of her role or the nature of her involvement at the time. I stand by my original review. Edit (April 2025): Original review reluctantly removed. I found myself placed in the path of Ms. Meyers' actions where I worked at an assisted living and memory care facility, and what I witnessed gave me pause. As a third party with no legal involvement, my only intent in sharing a review was to reflect honestly on my experience and raise ethical concerns I believed were worth considering. I wrote that review in good faith -- not to cause harm, but to invite reflection, dialogue, and accountability. Unfortunately, rather than being met with any attempt to understand or respond in kind -- which would have led me to willingly reconsider or remove my original review -- I received an immediate threat of legal action for "defamation." Despite now standing even more firmly by my original concerns, for the sake of my own well-being -- and out of respect for truth and professional ethics -- I’ve removed the review as demanded, and submitted a formal grievance to the Idaho State Bar, including a full account and supporting documentation. I trust them to handle the process with fairness and care, and to uphold the standards of ethical conduct that professionals in this field are expected to meet. But I will say this: A care environment for vulnerable adults is not a courtroom. Appropriate conduct within context matters. Respect matters. And how we treat others -- especially in moments of tension or critique --matters. I didn’t choose to stand in anyone’s way. I spoke up for what I saw, and for what I value. I didn’t deserve to be belittled or dismissed, let alone threatened for doing so. I shared my truth with care and integrity. She responded with the very behavior that compelled me to speak up in the first place. Make of that what you will.

Just wanted to say Belén was a lifesaver, and I would highly recommend her to anybody seeking legal counsel. She was very thorough, professional, and communicated with me through all the steps I needed, which took a tremendous amount of stress away from the legal process I was going through. She is also very kind person, which is so nice nowadays.

Follow Up: After posting my review Balen reached out multiple times after I wrote this, working her very best to mend the bridge. Balen researched multiple civil laywers to help me gain some sort of justice here. We are meeting for coffee soon to chat. I can say that iver the weeks Balen and I have built a friendship and she does care about her clients. My case was difficult as it crossed over into medical malpractice and civil rights violations I should have given more grace for that........I borrowed a lot of money to be able to afford Balen as an attorney. I'm still paying that back, and that's nobody's fault But my own. However, I borrowed the money for less than par Legal counsel, who pushed false narratives about me being on a hold in a hospital, I wasn't she allowed prosecutorial misconduct by allowing the prosecuting attorney to mislead the judge by telling him I was in a nursing facility. Not a mental health facility. When the facility's name says it's a mental institution. She didn't fight for me. Knowing that I was falsely imprisoned by this hospital. Knowing I never should have been there. Therefore I never, ever should have been arrested there. No, kidnapping victim gets charged with a crime for breaking the window of their nappers house to get away. But yet, I was charged after being falsely, imprisoned, and my lawyer just laid down like a dog and helped the prosecution push a false narrative, If this is the kind of counsel you want, sign up.
