Unfortunately, I've had two family members pass away, one was 3 years and the other was 2 years ago but neither case has finished in probate and I think the longer they take, the more money they make and the less liquidated assets available for family members. We are still waiting... 6/27/25 We are most definitely working with this firm. I am just not personally handling the formalities!

Michael Polk wisely guided me through the South Carolina probate process following the death of my brother John Young. John was a retired South Carolina attorney. I was my brother's personal representative and live in New Hampshire. John's children and I are grateful for the clear, efficient, personal and professional instructions.

Mike Polk turned a horrific probate experience with Richland county into a walk in the park. He is a true man of his word. First of all he gave us a price with doing our grandfather’s probate but then it turned out we had to combine our grandmother's probate along with his and also transfer 3 properties into our name. (Thats two different probates and three properties) He went well beyond his job but stuck to what he quoted us from the beginning. He went through numerous obstacles from different counties relating to the properties but all I know is one day he called and said come sign off I’m done and I’m not going to change the price since that’s what I said from the beginning. Of course we didn’t agree with him and payed him extra. All paperwork from changing deeds and address was done. He was a very well spoken and somewhat a quiet guy but we got him joking around and laughing with us.😂😂 The office is very clean and neat and well put together.

My husband and I were referred to Mike Polk at Belser Law Firm to write up a will and trust for us. Mike was excellent with explaining everything to us in terms that we could understand. He was very patient and kind. The office is in a lovely old building in downtown Columbia with a beautiful conference room where we could discuss our needs and wants.
