My experience with Peter and Currie was a pleasant one. The both of them were professional and patient with me. I was very unfamiliar with the OATH process and on my 1st phone call Currie took time out to answer every question I had and explain the process. The retainer fee was not very expensive and I'm glad I choose them. My case was dismissed and I saved a lot of money compared to how the DOB told me I needed to clear the violation. Thank goodness that I opened the letter in the mail from this company regarding the violation against my building. I usually throw away items from the post office that seem unimportant. Best decision ever! I wouldn't have known to contact them to resolve this issue so I am so grateful that they found me. I postponed the case about two times and the firm was very supportive of my decisions. Peter started the case and David was there for the final hearing. I cannot thank them enough for their services. Had great experience with Benimovich Currie & Ajasin LLP, and Mr. Currie in particular. They were very responsive, helpful, and though it took a while, they stayed on task and finally resolved my ECB violation. Given the amount of time spent on me and (for free) on my neighbors, not expensive at all in my oppinion. Highly recommend them if you’re dealing with OATH/ECB.

Mr. Vivian Currie is very knowledgeable and has supreme litigation skills to defeat the City attorneys! My neighbors and I were slapped with DOB OATH tickets that cost thousands of dollars each. Mr. Currie was very patient with us and explained to us what is going on, what he can do for us and what we can expect as outcomes. He is a busy person (understandably since everyone wants his help!), but he will get back to you and give you his honest, professional advice. He was always in our corner! My elderly parents would occasionally find a violation notice on the door of their house, claiming that a Building Inspector inspected their basement and found either an illegal apartment or an illegal bathroom in their basmeent. Since neither one exist in their basement, we would have to call Department of Buildings, schedule an inspection and show an inspector that there is no truth to that allegation. The matter wouldbe put to rest, but in few years the whole thing would start all over again. Just like Groundhog Day, for decades, taking a lot of time and giving us all a great deal of aggrivation. There would be no inspection, then a violation notice would appear claiming that there was one. I called every phone number at the Building Department in every borough, spoke with supervisors, nothing helped. They would assure me that there is nothing wrong, but in few years new violation for the same issue would present itself. After a while my parents became older and disabled and were no longer able to go up and down the stairs to let the Building Inspectors in, to show that there is nothing but storage in the basement. I had to drive to New York and do it for them. Two and a half years ago I had an inspector from Building Department take pictures and he promised me that my parents will no longer be harrassed and our nightmare is over. However, two years later my parents received another violation for the same issue. I had enough and called Benimovich Currie & Ajasin Law Firm. Peter Benimovich made me appreciate the fact that I have done so. Hewas very attentive to the issue, responded to every question, to every phone call, to every e-mail. He was extremely patient, would discuss the case with me in great detail and was very supportive. I do understand that that he handles hundreds of cases simultaneously, but I never felt that my case was not number one for him. He always had time to speak with me. Finally, he was able to do something for me that I was not able to do myself for thirty years. Without any hard evidence he was able to convince the judge to dismiss the violation, and the attorney for Department of Buildings was not able to rebut. Finally, after thirty years, my mother is able to sleep at night without anxiety that she will find another violation notice on her door and would feel helpless again. The very modest fee that we were charged does not justify the amount of time and effort Peter spent handling this case. We are very grateful to him and would highly recommend his services. Do not fight Department of Buildings alone.
