The reviews he gets says enough and is likely the reason he doesn’t respond to clients. He’s probably ashamed and given up. You’d think a lawyer would also understand what PR means, but clearly not. Don’t bother with Benjamin, he puts more focus on replying to negative reviews than communicating with clients. Edit: point proven by the fact he didn’t respond to me all week but preferred responding to the negative reviews to protect his weak reputation. Also seems Benjamin doesn’t understand that people like their anonymity or have online aliases. He clearly gets his emotions mixed up in his work. Edit 2: Benjamin likes to discredit anonymity even though his behavior shows he struggles with his out lashes towards clients. Who would want a person like that to know who’s leaving the review? Again, Benjamin’s willingness to reply to negative reviews that post updated edits multiple times in a day but not respond to a client for a week shows that he lacks emotional maturity and has likely given up on taking his profession seriously. Take care Benjamin. I see these reviews truly occupy space in your mind.
I have no record of anyone by your name ever contacting my office or retaining my services. No actual client of mine has communicated with my office in the manner reflected in this review and its repeated edits, which strongly suggests this is not a genuine client complaint at all, but a false and anonymous attack.<br><br>You are free to post anonymously. You are not free to invent a client relationship that does not exist and then use that fiction to publish misleading statements about my practice. If you in fact had a real interaction with my office, you are welcome to identify yourself and provide the specifics so the matter can be addressed. If not, this review should be understood for what it is: an unverified accusation posted behind an alias by someone unwilling to stand behind his own words.
I used maybe a bit more than half of the consultation and he said to reach back out of I had any questions. Literally right after we hung up I tried to get in touch with him...but to no avail. I left a voicemail and text. I just wanted to ask one more question. Wasn't the friendliest but seemed to have good advice

Since you acknowledged that the advice was helpful, let's apply the same standard of accuracy to the rest of your review.<br><br>You mentioned sending a text, but my office number is a standard landline and does not receive text messages. Any text sent to that number would not have been received. You also stated that you left a voicemail. I reviewed my office call logs and records, and they do not show any voicemails from you after the consultation.<br><br>You also said you reached out immediately after we hung up. I handle a high volume of inquiries, and I have no way of knowing that you have additional questions unless an actual message is received through a working channel. Once a consultation ends, I move directly to other client matters. It is not realistic to expect that I would remain by the phone for the balance of the hour waiting for a follow-up contact that was never actually received.<br><br>As for your comment about friendliness, if my tone struck you as less warm than you expected, that reflected the tone you brought to the call. I provide direct, practical advice and maintain a professional tone, and I expect the same in return.
Same day service and he gave me the three key factors I needed to have success with my case, from me giving him a written outline of my situation to provide him with an informed start. No time wasted, great law knowledge as he said more in our first meeting then the other three lawyers I was thinking of hiring. If you want blunt and honest, he is great to work with on a case
Called the bar about a question I had and I was referred to him. He basically told me to give up on pursuing this guy in small claims court, because the judge didn't have jurisdiction to do what I wanted? He told me to give up and spend tons of money on hiring him. Turns out he was wrong and I won the case so I don't know what he was talking about.
While I would like to respond to Ms. “Daisy” with more specificity, her anonymity makes that difficult. I can't confirm whether we have ever spoken, much less verify what was discussed. I appear to be the only business she has ever reviewed.<br><br>More importantly, her post omits the key detail of what relief she was actually seeking. If she wanted equitable relief, meaning an order compelling someone to do something or stop doing something, small claims court cannot grant that kind of relief. In Oregon, small claims is generally limited to money damages and, in some cases, the return of specific personal property.<br><br>If she ultimately “won,” that likely means she obtained relief the court was authorized to award. That outcome is entirely consistent with what I would have advised. Clarifying a given court's subject matter jurisdiction is not telling someone to “give up.” It is explaining what that particular court can, and cannot, legally do.
We just paid for a consultation to this mono times RUDE lawyer. Not worth a penny talking to this guy. He literally just told my wife and I quote "Jesus Christ!! Can I get a word in" as she asked a question we're paying for. He was completely incompetent to the law surrounding our tenancy. You should BE REMOVED from the Oregon bar referral. If you need an attorney who cares, knows the law, and treats you with respect you won't find those qualities here. Unbelievable waste of time and money. 10/17/25 1pm
I don't appreciate JT's ridiculous misrepresentation of our short, unfortunate time together. He wasn’t seeking counsel; he just wanted a rubber stamp. I don’t sell those. While I thought he had contacted me for legal advice, he wouldn’t stop talking long enough to receive it and what he did hear he clearly didn't like. Wouldn't recommend for a client. ZERO STARS!!
Mr Ybarra did a great job for me on an auto dealer dispute, getting all my money back for a colossal lemon. He was professional, responsive, and surprisingly affordable.
My opinion .... From a businessman who is very accustomed to working with attorneys. This is not the lawyer you want if you want results. He will write subpar demand letter then let you know that he really can't help beyond that. Then when you tells you that he has done as much as he can... he will get offended if you make any progress without him. He just wants the easy money and won't fight for you.
I truly feel sorry for anyone who has to do "business” with this "man". His review stems less from any shortcoming in my representation and more from wounded pride after I terminated our attorney-client relationship—something I was obligated to do after he lost my trust by engaging the opposing party behind my back.<br><br>Mind you, this occurred after I had already brought that party to the bargaining table. Frustrated with his perceived lack of "progress", Eric chose to go rogue, and then grew frustrated when I wouldn’t rubber-stamp his actions.<br><br>From the outset, I made it clear that the limited scope of my representation would involve sending a demand letter and initiating negotiations. To imply otherwise is disingenuous. What Eric seems to really resent is that I didn’t give him what he wanted after he outright insulted me, which is something no self-respecting attorney would ever do.

I didn’t meet with this person, didn’t charge them, and didn’t represent them. I simply informed her—politely, I might add—that I was unable to assist with her matter and offered guidance on how to find the right attorney. Apparently, “I’m not the right attorney for you” now translates to “absolutely rude."<br><br>I wish you the best of luck in finding an attorney who is both able to help and is fluent in whatever language turns “no thank you” into a warm hug.

Actions speak louder than words.... His actions used to be on par with the best, just like most business men in the attorney sector, corruption has occurred and now I'd say look for a better attorney.... You will loose your house if you rent during COVID when you shouldn't have! He help the opposing side after I had him contracted for years ... I lost my house and place to live after renting for 10 years from same people.... COVID changed all of that and I was left on the street... Thank you Ben.
I am very surprised and saddened to read this review. Over the course of nearly ten years, I assisted Jonathan with multiple legal matters. Unfortunately, more recently, he presented several issues that fell outside the areas of law I handle. I was clear with him at the time that I would not be able to assist with those new matters, and I had absolutely no involvement in the legal issue he references that ultimately resulted in the loss of his housing.<br><br>While I understand that the circumstances surrounding his housing loss have been very difficult and emotional, it is simply not accurate to suggest that I played any role in those events. Throughout our many years of working together, I always provided the utmost professionalism and care in handling his legal matters. I sincerely wish him the best moving forward.
I highly recommend Mr. Ybarra for anyone who is prepared to approach their case with a mature and mostly level head. Mr Ybarra deals with the facts, is very responsive and fair with his rate. Dealing with legal issues is stressful and emotional so there can be a tendency to want to be "cared for". For this, talk to your trusted friends and therapist. To get the legal job done, Mr. Ybarra proved to be efficient, even-keeled and full of integrity. He helped me get the outcome I needed and desired. He allowed me to take the lead while stepping in with guidance when necessary. I've learned a great deal through our work together and would definitely use his services again if the need arises.
I don't recommend paying $35 to Mr. Ybarra for him to only tell me what a few other attorney's already told me for free over the phone. I explained my situation that took me 5 minutes and he said you can do this and it took him about a minute to tell me that and that I could get a attorney for it or he changes 350hr. So I pretty much wasted 35 on something I already could find out over the internet or from a attorney that would tell you for free. I guess if you have an extra 35.00 laying around and don't need it then give him a call otherwise call around or look for yourself on Google

I was referred to Mr. Ybarra by Oregon State Bar and I was very pleased with the counsel he gave to me on a landlord/tenant situation. He was prompt with calling me back when I first called and answered all my questions! I would definitely recommend him.
We found his advice to be helpful, so there's that, but I did not get the impression of a highly focused shark I'd want on my side in any complicated legal matter. Our phone call began with "Did you pay the consultation fee?" I had actually, two days prior to the appointed time. Not a good first impression. I didn't get the vibe that he had read any of the documents/outline we sent him. Throughout the call he sounded extremely annoyed. I get it, the Oregon Bar referral fee is only $35 (I charge more than that and I don't have a JD, lol), but we would have been happy to pay a real retainer if we had gotten a halfway decent vibe from him. A good attorney is not a bad thing to have on speed dial. He may just have been having a bad day but I'm reading similar themes in other reviews and his replies thereto. YMMV is the too long/didn't read. Edited: Dropped to one star from three because of tone deaf reply. Bro, you were borderline rude, and so unprepared you didn’t realize we had already paid you. There was nothing in your call that inspired confidence. Your “advice” was to point us to a statute we could have found with Google. You declined to answer my questions about case law, something we can’t find with Google, and gave us barely 10 minutes of your time during a 30 minute consultation. I wanted to give you some benefit of doubt but it seems self-reflection is not in the cards. I recommend avoiding this gentleman. 🤷🏻♂️

I was referred to him by the bar for consult and I could not have been happier! I actually had a friend of mine on the call with me who was an attorney, and sometimes attorneys can clash that was not the case with Benjamin. He was incredibly professional and gracious and very helpful on the number of issues. More than got my moneys worth and highly recommend his services
