I can’t recommend Amber in good faith. I would assume the entire firm (husband and wife) operate in the same manner. In my experience, she repeatedly characterized my requests for clarification as “arguing,” rather than addressing the questions directly. I also negotiated a reduced rate for a hearing that ultimately never occurred, and that arrangement was repeatedly brought up in a negative way. Communication and scheduling were consistent issues—difficulty getting timely callbacks and unreliable follow-through on dates and next steps. I did not experience much compassion or empathy given the circumstances; the focus felt primarily financial, and explanations often came across as condescending rather than helpful. If you’re looking for family-law counsel, I would suggest interviewing other attorneys as well—particularly someone who communicates more clearly and demonstrates more empathy
David Mayo is very capable, dependable, and hard working. He truly fights for his clients. And he cares a great deal about his clients and their cases.
This place is horrible, communication sucks, can never get a hold of them, they are lazy. Don’t waste your money!
Do not trust them with your life and hard earned money! This place is full of Lazy incompetent attorneys. I retained Doug Drowley in sept 2023. My ex wife is using meth and I proved it with pictures of needles full of meth in her purse along with other paraphernalia and texts from her phone about meth. I also provided video and still shots of her attacking me. She went to jail and Doug filed for a restraining order. He was able to win this easy order as anyone could have. Doug then left the firm. David mayo took over and didn’t go to the next court date two weeks later to finalize the order. I tried exercising the restraining order in February 2024 to find out it expired because my lawyer didn’t finish the job. So we filed a new one. $7000, four continuance’s later armed with definitive proof of her impersonating a supervised visit specialist and proving all kinds of lies she still wine unsupervised visits. She provided “clean u.a’s” and even a hair follicle sample to the court. I told David since day one that it was fake and asked him to call the place where she took it at and confirm my suspicions, of course he did nothing. After she won unsupervised visits I did it myself hours after court. It took me a one minute phone call and one text message to (u.a’s r us in Puyallup) to confirm that the papers were totally fake. They wanted me to pay them again to go back to court to fix there foul up so I fired them. In my trade as an electrician if we screw up on a clients home we don’t charge them to fix are mistake. Over $15000 dollars later and 0 results on a easy black and white case I was forced to fire them. Your going through a lot in your case I’m sure it’s hard enough do not trust these people!!!!
They did the bare minimum for our case. They avoided filing blatant contempt against the opposing party. Amber Bighorse and her employees did not fight for us. When we finally decided to get a different attorney, her Paralegal claimed that they couldn't share our file through DropBox because it was too large. Two weeks later, it somehow magically worked. Finally. Lots of excuses, unanswered emails, contempt filings not being filed. I strongly advise you to find a better firm to handle your case.
I'm just trying to find out if my divorce is final, I've called twice (months in-between calls), yet no one there can be bothered to return my call to let me know.
David, Amber, Kay... the whole team has been amazing for me and my case!
I retained Bighorse and Associates to help me with a contentious divorce case, including a DVPO. Frankly put- they need to get their act together. I am still beyond words for their lack of professionalism. I was in such a vulnerable position and had high hopes of Amber and her firm, but they let me down beyond words. It would serve them well to show a little more empathy and patience towards their clients. I would NOT recommend these attorneys for representation, and would STRONGLY urge someone to seek out another firm.
They were late to consult. They really didn't want to talk to me about the case. They pretty much said I was better off self representing. Complete waste of time. They are part of the toxic anti-father culture.
Wonderful law firm David Mayo and his staff are amazing people to work with. Will definitely recommend to all family and friends
Bighorse law is the best. Amber and David are amazing people and I will always refer people to them for legal advice.
Lied in court saying I owed them funds for the arbitrator. When I paid the arbitrator directly with a credit card.
Amazing place, the people that work here and own the facility are so welcoming and invite you in like an extension of their own family. Professional, reliable and gave more to me than I could even imagine. Court and family law is no easy issue to cope with but having this firm on my side is something I'll never regret. Thank you to everyone here (Amber, Maddy, David, Doug, Penny, Suzanne and whomever else that assisted in my case(s)) even the individuals not involved, were 'involved' which just adds to the confidence and reassurance to a very difficult and stressful time.
Rodrick and Jill were fantastic to work with. Communication was always on point and clear, expectations were laid out early on and nothing came as a surprise. Couldn't be happier to have them in my corner.
Thank you for being a great client Mr. Bohle, it was our pleasure to assist you. Best of luck on your future endeavors! - The Bighorse Law staff.
Heard good things and sought them out. They seemed nice and willing to help but never returned a call nor email. Unfortunate. Editing to add since the comment made in review, was hoping that I would change my response, but is now not showing. It was twice as unfortunate that we tried to work with them again, lost our case, they didn't care to look at our proof of the other parties manipulative actions, we lost, and the outcome has not been great. They even spelled our names wrong.
If it's not an easy divorce with kids and custody issues I suggest looking for other options. Be sure you come with tons of money if it's a long divorce. They answer to your money. You go through many lawyers and most are very green. It's a uphill battle don't add to it by trusting these lawyers with your families future. Learn from my mistakes.
We went through three attorney's in the 18 months we were at this firm. It is obvious that the attorneys are leaving for a reason. It felt like each attorney we were with screwed us over in a different way. Amber Bighorse made herself available for a mediation so that she could assist the attorney that was part of our case (Erin, who had some incompetence issues you can see in other reviews). Ms. Bighorse showed up in yoga pants looking very unprofessional and was on her laptop for another case the entire time. The mediator even commented on her disengagement and asked her why she was there. Both of the attorney's at the mediation gave no concrete advice, and kept saying that although we were scheduled to go in front of a "friendly" judge, we COULD get someone different and they COULD decide to give us nothing... It seemed like they were more on the side of strong-arming a compromise than attempting to represent the best interests of their client. When we tried to stop a relocation to Texas, the attorney who was helping us, David, missed his time to call to consult on the case, then asked to reschedule the reschedule. He made another meeting time to discuss the case the night prior to the trial, and cancelled that too. It's obvious he was stretched too thin to take the case. The day of the trial he didn't eat anything and became more and more agitated as the day went on. He accepted a long distance plan that is less than the Standard Possession Order for Texas, saying there was no way we would get more in front of the judge we were seeing. When we pushed back on all residential time being in Texas (yes, you read that right), he said maybe we should argue the case in front of the Judge since we seemed to know more than him. Incredibly unprofessional. He also did not modify our child support, which was miscalculated to begin with and has since needed to be modified for additional reasons. He said we can do that any time we want through child support services and didn't do it while we were at court and all the paperwork had been completed. Hundreds of dollars and hours of time spent already for that modification, and he just didn't do it. The paralegals were all great. Every one of them that we worked with was very responsive and did great work. Unfortunately, they were not the ones representing us at court or in mediation.
Professional, responsive, and reasonable.
