Attorney Blake is kind, empathetic, and consistent. He is a wealth of knowledge while remaining humble to those he serves.
My experience with Blake & Schanbacher Law has been extremely harmful, and I want to caution anyone considering working with this firm when it comes to divorce/seperation. Improper Service and Misrepresentation: I was never properly served with a divorce complaint, yet the attorneys at this firm continued to treat me as though I was. I asked repeatedly for clarification and received none. Instead, they maintained correspondence as if there was an active case, which only caused confusion and unnecessary expense. Disrespectful Communication: I asked numerous times to be addressed correctly as Mrs., but in emails they continued to refer to me as Ms. This may seem small, but when someone repeatedly ignores your requests for respect, it feels dehumanizing. Which was intentional on their part. Withholding of Property: After I was forced to leave the marital home on March 9, 2025, my property was withheld until the first week of August 2025. During that time, I was told to pick up "a key" to a storage unit, even though my husband had not placed anything there until June. They could have mailed the key since I was living out of state, but they never asked for my address or offered that option. Their repeated emails urging me to collect the key — knowing full well there was no property places inside the unit by my husband until June— felt like deliberate delay and psychological pressure. Professional Responsibility Ignored: I understand that attorneys are not responsible for their clients’ personal choices. But attorneys are officers of the court, and they should not enable behavior that withholds property or violates the law. In my case, they seemed more interested in delay and intimidation than fairness or resolution. Personal Impact: Because of their tactics and misrepresentations, I even missed my graduate school graduation ceremony as a first-generation immigrant — a milestone that can never be replaced. Especially, since I graduated from a field in which will assist in many lives being saved. The ongoing lack of response to my legitimate questions and concerns only deepened the harm. Conclusion: I expected this firm to act professionally and lawfully. Instead, my experience was one of various types of intimidation, disrespect, and dehumanization. I cannot recommend this law firm to anyone seeking fair or ethical representation in York County.
I made my consultation appt. with attorney Kurt Blake. He was prepared beyond my expectations, with all of the documents pertaining to my situation. He listened to all of my concerns, and I never felt rushed. He followed up in a timely manner. I have the utmost confidence in Mr. Blake and would not hesitate to use him in the future.
I feel even one star is too much. My mother and I worked with Amy trying to get grandparents rights and I have nothing good to say. We were told she was an amazing lawyer and she would do anything to fight for what she knew and felt was right. First we had a zoom consultation with her and then heard nothing from her or her paralegal for months! I had to email and call several times to get a response to find out Amy LOST our file in someone else’s case file! That should have been enough for us to say ok we need to find someone else but we thought we would give her a chance I mean after all we are all human and accidents happen. Then we were charged for a visit to the office to do nothing but the exact same thing we did in the consultation! Long story short, 8 months after contacting Amy, we were told there was nothing more she could do for us and we had to withdraw our court case. There were several times I emailed and called and received no response. The entire time we felt she wanted nothing to do with our case and just wanted to throw it aside but still collect our money. When we withdraw our court case I emailed asking about a refund that Amy stated we would receive along with requesting all the documents that were filed in our case file, I again had to email 3 times asking for these before the paralegal responded and acted like she was oblivious to any lack of communication through our whole case when she was included in all of the emails. I can’t speak for the other lawyers but I would not recommend Amy for any family law case.
Takes time to answer in thorough detail all of your questions and concerns. Kurt Blake's experience is through the roof. Would highly recommend.
Amy worked wonders for me. She was recommended by several people I know and I can see why. She is very knowledgeable and helped me get primary custody of my daughter. She also tells it like it is and doesn't tiptoe around the issues. I'd highly recommend her to anyone with family matters.
Dave helped me through my divorce and custody trial. My case was long and complicated and he was able to help me gain primary custody of my son. He was definitely prepared for our multiple days of trial. I highly recommend Dave for any family matter where you need an attorney.
I retained Attorney Schanbacher for custody and divorce proceedings. Just had the custody trial and he was very well prepared and was really great in the courtroom (much more than her attorney). He listened to my thoughts throughout trial preparation and was very accommodating to my requests. The trial went in my favor due to his preparedness and experience even in a very "he said/she said" case. I couldn't be happier with him representing me.
Attorney Blake is awesome I would recommend him for any tenant landlord issues
I called for information to see if they specialize in representing as a tenant attorney. The lady said "we only do it for landlords." The website says otherwise BTW. And I asked did she know of any that do assist. I heard rummaging of papers in the background. Silence then she hung up. No end greeting, goodbye, nada. I'll take my business elsewhere especially if the phone service isn't wanting to help that business.
Couldnt possibly recommend kurt blake more . The guy gets it done .
Super
In my opinion they were not worth the money. Seemed unprepared when in court and meetings concerning divorce. I pretty much had to be prepared with own evidence even though they were provided with it and I was charge considerably by them to review. In court I was not impressed, they had no drive whatsoever. Many times they had been given information that would have had proven my case and caught the other party in lies, but due to their lack of preparation it never happened.Seemed like they don’t care about the client. Only thing they care about is how much money they can get out of you. With my experience with this place, I would look somewhere else. I do need to mention my case was a divorce and attorney I dealt with was Dave. He is the only lawyer I dealt with. I have no experience with other attorneys in this firm. WOW!!! SEEMS KINDA OF FUNNY THERE WERE KNOW REVIEWS ON DAVE, UNTIL I POSTED MINE. THEN ALL THE SUDDEN HE GETS ALL THESE 5 star testimonials.SEEMS AWFUL FISHY? Employees, Friends? I doubt real clients. Just my opinion. Just to give you one of my experiences with Dave. It was with divorce Master. I asked him to submit at kbb report on a 4wheeler I owned because appraiser over priced it by $1600.00 dollars. He said he didn’t have to submit it and just bring it with me. Needless to say because he didn’t submit it as evidence “like I asked “ Divorce Master would not accept it. Costing me $1600 dollars. This is the kind of stuff that happened all through my case. I doubt these other people that wrote 5 star reviews can back up their statements, but I have documentation from Divorce Master that backs this one of many issues I had with Dave.Just do your research. I choose Dave because he was working under a big name lawyer that had a good record. Name wasn’t even with law firm title.Just said Cognetti and associates. I think back now and think to myself. For someone that supposely has all these years of experience and titles, why was he a associate? If he was as good as these 5 star reviews, you think he wouldn’t be hanging on someone’s coat tales. My case was in Gettysburg. As far as one review stating something about taking on two judges that had family ties to other party in their case. I wish I would have had that, because I had the silent lamb. In my opinion. Good luck to anyone that reads this.
