Read all the garbage reviews below. DO NOT hire this guy. This guy only contacts you when it’s time to get paid. I actually had to ask him if he’s on my ex’s pay roll. And he got very defensive. Save your cry baby rebuttal. This many garbage reviews present accuracy. This guy was given multiple examples of parent alienation and did NOTHING!
Really wish I could give LESS than one star. He will not talk to you until days before your hearing. And make you look the fool as they are losing. They will charge you thousands of dollars to cost you hundreds of hours with your family… all because they can’t be bothered to do their job properly.
Joe is truly an amazing guy. He took on my complicated case with confidence and always made me feel like success was within reach. His patience is unmatched, and his loyalty to his clients is something you don’t see every day. Joe is completely trustworthy, and there’s no one else I would rather rely on during a difficult situation. A huge thank‑you to Joe and his staff for taking such good care of me. Their support made all the difference.
Joe borsberry does not deserve any stars at all. He representing me in my divorce for me to find out 3 weeks later while driving my children off to my ex-wife, that he is related to the other side of the family. Make sure you do your research on him because I got screwed and do not want to see this happen to anyone else. So please disregard the one star, because it won't let me post unless I give them a star. Have a great day, and please look for a different lawyer. If you get Joe. I don't know about the rest of his law people but him representing me and being a part of the other side's family is unexcusable
Not true. My most of my family live in New York, Florida, Rhode Island and Tennessee. Our firm does conflict of interest checks and double checks and strictly complies with Rules of Professional Conduct.
Mr. Borsberry and his team are just absolutely phenomenal from fighting for you in court to working with you on payments so your not burden with it from a financial aspect especially depending on what your case is which is stressful enough to worry about. I lost my babies back in 2023 and immediately went to Borsberry for help and boy did he help; I can now say I have my babies back home where they belong all thanks his continuous fighting in court! Definitely safe to say we will be going back to Mr. Borsberry and his team for any future legal needs!
Mr Borseberry and his team was very responsive and did an outstanding job with my case! I highly recommend him and his team!
I hired Joe and his team to help me with a DCFS appeal. I tried to handle the case to being with, and was cooperating with the investigation thinking that the TRUTH would set me free. Boy was I wrong! With 50 years on the state registry hanging over my head, I knew I had to do something. So I hired Joe, that is when I met his wonderful paralegal Denise who kept me informed, updated, and went well beyond her duties for me. At the end of the day justice was served, and Joe walked around the attorney for DCFS. It was sad that DCFS would rather ruin somebody's life than admit they did something wrong. However thanks to Joe and Denise, after almost a year, I can start to get my life back. I'd hire Joe for anything that I would need help with again, and would send people his way with out hesitation!
I had a great experience with Borsberry Law Offices. Joseph Borsberry and his team were professional, responsive, and made the process much less stressful. They were able to get me an excellent outcome, and I felt supported throughout. I would recommend this firm to anyone needing legal help in the Peoria County area.
Trash lawyer firm Joe is trash and so is his staff. Took multiple of thousands of dollars from me with no outcome of my case mind you the case was in the stage of finalizing and signing and he chose to withdraw straight trash leave it where it belongs👎
Nathan, I’m glad we undid the terrible schedule you agreed to. Unfortunately, I cannot have you abuse our staff. We wish you the best best of luck.
He doesn’t deserve a star — he deserves a warning label. I paid a $3,500 retainer for Joseph Borsberry to appear in court a couple of times and handle my case, but I received almost nothing in return—no meaningful updates, no real progress, and very little communication. After making additional payments that brought my total close to $4,000, he abruptly decided to withdraw from my case at the very end, leaving me stuck and scrambling to find new representation. Let me be clear: his office does not communicate. Since my last court date on May 9th, I called 18 times—18 times—with no real answers, no support, and no indication anyone cared. Instead of doing the job he was paid for, Joseph filed a motion to withdraw and walked away like it was nothing. He also has an irritating habit of constantly interrupting when you’re trying to talk, making it clear he has little interest in actually listening to your concerns. Meanwhile, his paralegal Denise once emailed me saying: “This is a mess. BUT, we will get it straightened out. I will be honest with you, it probably won’t be over tomorrow. BUT, we WILL get it figured out and cleared up.” Those were her exact words — and not a single part of that promise came true. At one point after court, Joseph said, “Is it really worth fighting for if there’s only a couple hundred dollar difference?” Yes, Joseph — when it comes to child support, every dollar counts. That comment showed just how little he values his clients or the children involved. Even more concerning, they never secured a financial affidavit from the opposing party, so they lacked the essential, accurate financial information needed. Instead, they were willing to base child support calculations on rough estimates—an approach that’s not just sloppy, but completely unacceptable for competent legal representation. If you’re thinking about hiring him, don’t. He’ll take your money, waste your time, and leave you scrambling to fix what he failed to do. You’re better off representing yourself than trusting someone who won’t return calls, finish your case, or act professionally. No suit—even a pinstripe one—can make sloppy work and lack of commitment look sharp. Because he failed to do his job, I’m now forced to pay another attorney just to finish the work Joseph was originally hired to complete. He didn’t withdraw for any valid reason—he walked away because he didn’t like being called out for taking payment without delivering results. That’s not legal representation. That’s taking advantage of a parent doing their best to fight for their child. And honestly? I hope he stubs his pinky toe on the sharpest corner of a coffee table — a small but satisfying dose of karma for the stress and disappointment he put me through
Should Of Looked More Closely To The Reviews.
Very bad service honestly was told the case was going to be handled at certain price which I paid full and after even less time off work still didn’t have to go to the court house cause the decision was signed before the court date still had to pay 123 days again for no reason if you have to deal with them please check and double check they have a very bad billing system be careful I know Ottorney fees can be expensive but they service is something else
This is incorrect and unfair. We never told you it would be handled at a "certain price." We told you this, and even put it in writing. We quoted you a very low down payment and quickly fixed the problem you brought without you even having to appear in court. Your final bill was $126.25 more than the down payment. We did what you needed and did so quickly.
Don't waste your money, did absolutely nothing for me, took all my money, and then gave me a bill saying i owe more, for literally NOTHING. Horrible communication, between Joseph and his staff. He told me in the beginning he could work with my case (child custody) and then took all the money, and said he never said that. We literally had a consultation before paying him, so he could see if my case was something that he could do, he said it shouldnt be an issue. The day I called him asking what exactly has been done, since they have "used" all of my money, he said "I think its best I remove myself from your case" So this must be typical for them, very unprofessional. All you got to do is google image this guy, and youll see that this is probably not the dude you want representing you. I dont even want to give A star... EDIT: commenting back to the response... I was chosen you guys through my job and their employee assistance program, this was not my choice. You also are NOT HOURS AWAY. Coming to court PREPARED IS VITAL, AND THAT IS SOMETHING YOU DID NOT DO. You did nothing at all, but drive to court, but nothing got accomplished or done. You are a crook.
Summer, we are sorry we were required to withdraw from your case. We spent substantial time on your case so suggesting otherwise is incorrect. You hired us for a case hours away and complained when I showed up for court and the other attorney failed to appear. Showing up for court and doing so prepared is vital despite the other attorney not doing so
I can't say enough good things about Joe Borsberry and his team. I would hire him again for any future matters, no questions asked. Our case involved our son, who is a minor, and I was taken back at how well he spoke with a child. He made our son feel comfortable and understood, while also explaining things at a level that our son understood the processes that were going on. From start to finish we were regularly updated on the case, never feeling like we were left in the dark. The fees were very reasonable for the services and follow-up provided.
Thanks for the kind words. It's been a pleasure to help your family.
Alert: Authenticity Concerns Joe, offers a $100 rebate to clients who leave positive reviews. This undermines the integrity of the review system. Why Authentic Reviews Matter Family law clients often make significant financial commitments (retainers of $3,000-$5,000) based on very limited information (30-minute consultations). Genuine reviews provide a small but crucial insight into an attorney's negotiation style, responsiveness and professionalism. Ethical Implications Paying for reviews probably violates the legal profession's code of ethics. No other attorneys are known to engage in this practice. Broader Impact Deceptive practices erode trust and undermine community reliance on review systems and make life harder for decades to come. When you wait in a long line at the airport, realize it is because some jerk ruined the ease of getting on a plane for everyone for decades to come. Every time you lose your keys or have to lock your door, it is because of selfish people that we even have keys. Recommendations 1. Future clients: exercise caution and consider lower-rated reviews. 2. Report Joe to the ethics board. 3. Current clients: Write two reviews, one exposing Joe and one getting the 100 rebate. 4. Treat other attorneys that do this the same way or this behavior may spread. 5. Joe B. and associates: stop this behavior.
I needed help with filing legal documents outside of my home area. After reading reviews and checking references, I decided to go with Borsberry Law. I was quoted a fair price on my initial inquiry and received a clear plan for my desired outcome. Most of my work was handled by Jennifer, the paralegal, who was outstanding. I always felt like my time was valued and that my needs were met. In the end, I was able to get the outcome I was looking for thanks to Borsberry Law. I highly recommend them for your legal needs.
