Don't bother even trying! The only office I've dealt with that wants the client to get their medical records so they don't have to spend the time or money. Staff never explained cost involved to obtain records. He could of easily communicated, "besides the percentage our law firm takes if we win the case, we will charge for x,y,z. Staff needs better communication skills.
Dear J.W., I don't have any Clients (past or present) with initials J.W. <br><br>However, I do appreciate the opportunity to respond to this scenario you provided.<br><br>When a "potential" client communicates with our office, we have a process. First of all, we have to screen the potential client to determine if we have a conflict with a present or past client. If there is a conflict, we will provide information to the potential client to contact the Oregon State Bar referral line at 800-452-7636. That’s about as helpful as we can be in that scenario. If there is no conflict, then we can go into more detail about the issue and potential case. Early on we may determine that it’s a potential case that we don’t typically handle. Then we’ll again provide information to the OSB referral line, and if we have names of other attorneys we know who might be helpful, then we’ll provide that information. Once we determine it is a case that we might be able to work upon, then we ask for more detailed information to decide if it’s a case that we are willing to accept. Sometimes we are able to accept some cases and not others for many different reasons: there can be time constraints; needs of the client that we cannot meet; concerns about the strength of a particular matter; and sometimes personality issues. As you may expect, that last one is important. Sometimes people don’t work well together. Once we get past this point and we accept a case and client, then we discuss next steps. We always have a discussion with our clients about the costs of a case - what are the costs initially and over the long term. Clients want this information typically, and we do our best to give a reasonable estimate of expected costs – depending upon if a matter is to be settled, versus going to trial. We also provide information to clients regarding the best ways to minimize costs, which can include client’s obtaining their own medical records. Sometimes if a client obtains their own medical records, the medical care provider won’t charge as much for that bill. If a client wishes for us to obtain those records, we do so but with the understanding that obtaining these records may cost more money to the client. We let people know what to expect and how to proceed; BUT, it’s our client’s case – final decisions are theirs.

This man and his team deserve a 10 star review! My roommates and I were struggling with numerous issues regarding our landlord and conditions of the place we were renting. Brady was able to help us tremendously with guiding us through the process of getting out of the place. Anytime I had questions, he was there to answer them. There were even a handful of times where they simply listened to me vent about how terrible things had gotten at the house. The whole situation became easier when Brady took it into his hands to get us the justice we deserved. I can’t thank them enough!

Greedy! I hired him to help me with my wc/mva case. I only wanted my medical bills paid $34,000, unfortunately Mr Brady took it upon himself to ask for max 100,000. I lost my case because of him! I put my trust in him and he and his staff did me wrong!

Did not complete things in the time frame requested and was not concerned about how I felt, instead argued with everything I said. Not landlord friendly but advertises differently.

“If it hurts, call Brady Mertz!” That slogan is so fitting and catchy for a personal injury lawyer- I have to say but that’s exactly what I did when I was in a car wreck. Consequently, I injured my back and with my profession as a union carpenter definitely requires having a strong back. I called Brady’s law office, schedule an appointment and hired him to represent me on the spot! Immediately, I felt that sense of confidence he possess’s and right then I knew he was the right guy for the job! During my case, I was continually surprised by his advice; whether it was giving out his knowledge on law or contacts that I needed. He always kept up with me at every stage of my recovery- put me in touch with a lot of great specialists that helped me get back to doing the things I love. Brady is a stand up guy- prompt, prepared and personable. I’ve known Brady Mertz as a family friend since I was a kid and to see him living out his dream- there is no question about it you won’t find a harder working lawyer! I’d recommend him to anyone and everyone going further. I believe Brady Mertz is one of the best personal injury lawyers in the state. In combination with his paralegal Emily Johnson- that’s one heck of a team! I can’t say enough great things about Emily as well!
