I am not going to mention names here because the firm is aware of who represented me, but the whole experience did not meet my expectations. Several people who were aware of my communications with my counsel were shocked at how unsupportive they were at times. They were also not prepared for the complexities of my case but did not suggest finding more qualified counsel instead, even after I asked if I should consider other options. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find alternate counsel by the time I realized how bad the situation was and a change at that point would have put an agreement, that I ended up having to negotiate and structure myself, at risk of falling apart. That was made worse by the fact the case was unnecessarily extended in time and cost by not being prioritized either as needed or as advertised. I hired another firm and lawyer in parallel for a separate family law matter and the experience was night and day different in terms of competence, professionalism, and empathy. Aside from my subjective experience, they charged me to fix at least one mistake that was caused by the firm, which feels borderline unethical. I contacted the firm’s principal directly and did seem to see some improvement following that, but never got a direct response or any kind of contrition. When I paid my final balance and gave feedback about the concerns I had with how the case was wrapped up, I got no response from my counsel (the paralegal did thoroughly look into and provide context on one of my two concerns, to their individual credit). In my professional line of work this would be completely unacceptable behavior. To be fair, the case did turn out to be more complex than I first expected, but if you are in over your head you ask for help or admit you can’t handle it instead of dragging clients along.

After 5 years hiring multiple attorneys in an attempt to bring resolution in a nasty divorce case, I finally contacted Brewe Layman and within 30 days it was resolved. Brewe Layman was easily the best firm I've hired. They were the most attentive, easily the best value and by far and away the most effective. Thank you, Kelli. Also, to all of the Brewe Layman partners and employees, I give my thanks and gratitude.

What a horrible, horrible person. I’d give zero stars if I could. I am still in shock over how I was treated. Would not recommend to anyone.

Do not work with Matthew D Taylor. He stole 10k from me, signed me up for an unfair alimony, and then ghosted me. He only cares about himself.

I have nothing but good things to say about Robert Miller and the team at Brewe Layman. Everything was handled promptly, thoroughly, and professionally.

Their website clearly states BUSINESS LAW "From partnership, corporation and LLC formation...", "Kenneth Brewe has more than 40 years experience dealing with routine and complicated business matters including litigation. If you have a Business Law need, please contact us to set up a consultation", but when calling their office, the person on the phone says that they do NOT do that at all, she was absolutely surprised of our inquiry, and apparently has never seen their website and unable to check it to see they supposedly do Business Law!

Amazing attorneys and staff!! Couldn't ask for anything more. I've had several lawyers help me during the last 10 years fighting for custody and this law firm truly delivered. I would recommend Rebecca to anyone dealing with a difficult and complicated case. I'm so impressed by this firm and cannot say enough good things about them. They are worth every penny and then some!

I reached out to several different law firms to adopt my son in law. No one responded back. And I am thankful they didn't. I have had the best experience ever. I would recommend over and over again.

Do not recommend using this firm. I’m just going to highlight the unprofessional moments that really made me lose any confidence I had in this firm. After going through mediation and trying to sign the agreement it was a total mess. They messed up the paperwork too many times to count, they would send it back and there where errors. So I would have to point out that it didn’t match the CR2 agreement. They didn’t even spell my name right, not even on the final paperwork after I asked them to fix it. The court date had to keep getting moved back because they paperwork kept having so many errors. Which fine I get it we all make mistakes, but they charged me another 2,800 after mediation because of the delays and they weren’t my fault. And that charge just hit my credit card without any bill being sent to me explaining what the services rendered the charge, I didn’t get that until I called the billing department. They claimed it was an email issue, funny though because my email works just fine when the paralegal would send me “updates” and then tried to charge me another 1,200 once again without a statement explaining the services provided. I get it if you are talking with the Attorney formally and they are giving you professional legal advice yes you have to pay for that. But I lost my mind when I was being charged for errors of their end and the lack of sticking to a timeline. I did what I was supposed to now do your job. They did refund the last charge, but only after I called the paralegal out on it. I wanted to talk with my attorney but he was on vacation or something. And there was no apology or explanation. Once again they claimed it was an automatic billing error. But had I not said anything they would have just kept charging me and dragging out my case. And no I’m not happy with how the parenting plan worked out, I didn’t feel represented during mediation, I felt like I gave up a lot more then I had to. But hey that’s just the legal document that is binding to my kids and I for the next 14 years. If you want someone to pay attention to your case don’t go with this firm. You may as well pay yourself because you’ll have to do all the leg work while they charge you for brash e-mails with little substance leaving you confused and more stressed out about your divorce. I had Rhonda Johnson and Bob Miller.

Response from owner

No legal matter is ever pleasant, but we strive to provide our clients with clear and honest discussions regarding your legal matter, even though sometimes it's not what you were hoping to hear. Brewe Layman is sorry that you had a frustrating legal experience and are concerned to learn of your dissatisfaction. Many of our clients have posted positive reviews and were very happy with both the outcome of their matter, and with our ability to help them through the confusing and emotional process of family law litigation. We would value a discussion with you to determine how and why your experience differed from those who gave us 5 stars.

Ken and Debbie were AMAZING for me during my divorce. 34 year marriage, and i was clueless how it would all work. Fairness and respect was important to me, and they made it happen. Im friends with my ex, which wouldn't have been possible had this been long, drawn out and mean spirited. I would 110% recommend Brewe Layman.

Bob Miller was my lawyer who came recommend to me. He was the worst recommendation I have ever had. I needed to move as I could no longer stay in the area due to financial hardship. Bob did not stand up for me in mediation. He sat there laughing and joking with the mediator Elizabeth Turner the entire 8 hours. These two would not mediate at all. Instead of negotiations, Elizabeth and Bob would act as if they were a judge often stating "this is what a judge would've decided". My ex didn't even submit any paperwork to the mediator prior to mediation. It was like the mediator was making inferences towards me and my case. I wasn't asking for the parenting plan to be changed completely, as I want me kids to enjoy time with their father. I figure she should not be so bias since she didn't have any documents from my ex. Bob didn't seem to care that my ex didn't supply any documentation, Bob just agreed with everything Elizabeth Turner had to say. In the end, I lost. Just because I decided to move 30 miles away. I had my children 70% of the time before all of this. Now I see them for 6 days out of each month. I have read another persons review of Bob which was similar to mine, except his ex-wife moved out of state and got to keep the kids. Please avoid Bob. He is literally here to be a life/ money suck and he'll make sure you won't get to see your kids as often as you use to.
