If you are trying to decide on an attorney , especially for traffic violations, look no further! Mr Thomason was excellent - he explained everything and how it all works and did all the "behind the scenes" work so we didn't have to be scrambling! It can be a little scary not knowing- so that helped tremendously! Also, his entire staff were not only helpful and professional, but also very responsive, efficient and friendly! Refused to appear in court just 2 days before custody hearing if we did not agree to pay an additional $3500 after Carolyn claimed to use the $4500 retainer fee. Because the hearing was just 2 days away we felt forced to agree or we would lose my brothers to their abusive mother. Carolyn and the rest of their office were urged to work on our case and be prepared for the hearing because we had noticed very early after we paid them that they no longer cared about our case. We asked to meet with Carolyn on multiple occasions to have a meeting to talk about our case. We were told over and over that Carolyn was not available and to trust their process. Once we were at the hearing it became very clear that Carolyn was not prepared and did not know our story and facts of the case. Though she was thrown a curveball by the judge which she said she had never seen done before and we were all shocked about. It does not excuse Carolyn not bringing up key points that we had talk to her about on multiple occasions and the importance those topics had on our case. It seemed at no point was Carolyn attempting to state the facts and evidence we had in a comprehensible manner especially when the judge does not know the case. I believe this is because Carolyn did not know the case herself. As the hearing went on Carolyn continuously brought up topics and presented them as if it was a mystery or puzzle for the judge to put together instead of just making our point clear. I am sure this made things very confusing for the judge and was unable to understand what we were presenting. This forced the judge to believe what the opposing party said because our case was incomprehensible. The opposing party did not even have a lawyer and was merely a high school graduate with major holes in their story. Carolyn’s ridiculous behavior and inability to be prepared for our case caused my family to lose all custody of my two younger brothers and have my brothers have to go from living with their loving father to living with their physically and emotionally abusive mother and her boyfriend who we are in the process of receiving more information on after receiving a message from his ex wife that he committed acts of domestic violence on her. After the hearing one of the staff at their office informed us that Carolyn would not speak with us until we paid her more money. We have now exhausted all our resources to keeping my little brothers out of danger and are now possibly not gonna ever get them where they are safe. Cadem law has taken advantage of my families sensitive situation and for their own financial gain. I would advise you do not let these people take advantage of you.
We are very sorry to hear that you are unhappy with the outcome of your father’s recent custody matter. We take all concerns seriously. We do wish to clarify several points in your review. <br>First, unfortunately custody cases can get quite expensive. However, the retainer agreement with CLG makes very clear that additional funds may be required as the case progresses, and that the trial retainer must be paid prior to trial. That payment did not occur in this case. And despite our clear office policy and retainer agreement, Ms. Cadem did try the case without requiring the trial retainer be paid first. That was a special exception the firm made to assist your father in a very difficult situation. Additionally, Ms. Cadem ended up having to litigate TWO cases: the custody matter and an Order for Protection matter that we convinced the judge to combine into a single trial to save your father the expense of having to try the same issues twice in the two separate proceedings. Doing so saved him significant time and money. To express discontent both that you feel your father was charged too much, but also that Ms. Cadem did not spend enough time on the case is unfair. All time spent on the case was accounted for in the bills your father received throughout the case. <br>Family court proceedings can be unpredictable. While we understand your frustration with the result, and although we are well known for achieving exception results, no attorney can guarantee a particular outcome, especially in highly contested custody disputes. You attended the entirety of the trial and at no point during the trial or following the trial did either of you express any dissatisfaction until the court order was issued. Although the ultimate custody order was not everything you may have hoped for, we were successful in having the OFP completely dropped as to the children, and we obtained parenting time for your father where he previously had none. Those were not small tasks, especially given some of the texts and audio recordings we faced. <br>We also want to be clear that our firm never “took advantage” of the situation for financial gain. We made an exception to requiring the trial retainer be paid before trial, and we combined two cases to save on attorney’s fees. Indeed, the very reason Ms. Cadem was unavailable to speak to your father shortly after the order came out was because she was in another custody trial where she and the firm donated over 400 hours of free legal services to an individual who simply could not afford representation. Ms. Cadem has been repeatedly named a North Star Attorney by the Minnesota State Bar Association because of the amount of free legal services she provides each year. <br>At no time did Ms. Cadem refuse to speak to your father until his outstanding bill was paid. She corresponded with him via email multiple times following the trial. The only thing that was relayed was that Ms. Cadem would not undertake an appeal until all outstanding balances were paid. Once available, Ms. Cadem immediately returned the call of your father twice, both without answer or return call. <br>Ms. Cadem is a very shrewd and aggressive trial attorney who has successfully tried countless cases. The manner in which she presents evidence is calculated. Unlike what you see on TV, good litigators know that facts are elicited at trial, but conclusions are presented in summation. Presenting conclusions during trial only opens the door for attack, and it dilutes the impact of the point being made. <br>We genuinely empathize with the pain and difficulty your family is experiencing, and we regret that you feel unsupported during such a challenging time. While we cannot discuss all the details of this matter publicly due to confidentiality obligations, we always encourage any current or former client with concerns to reach out directly to our office so we can address them fully and constructively. <br>

Carolyn and her staff have worked tirelessly to put me in the best spot as a single dad. They care deeply about me and my daughter’s story and have been sensitive to my emotional situation. I am going through a parent’s worst nightmare and Carolyn does an excellent job of grounding me during this tumultuous period of my life when my emotions run high. I am proud to say I have sole custody of my daughter for 2 and 1/2 years now under her counsel and even though the divorce/custody case isn't completed yet, Carolyn has already shown her great acumen in the courtroom and I have the utmost confidence in her ability to advocate for my daughter and me. I don't see any reason, with Carolyn at the helm, that my situation could change for the worse. I only see my situation getting better the longer she represents me.
