We didn’t know what to expect with a public defender Of which we opted for regarding ongoing legal matters with our daughter. We had previously hired an attorney of which seemed very concerned and invested In making sure my daughter was taken care of, But came to find out once we made our hefty down payment that seemed to all be an act. There are no real words that can describe what kind of attorney/man Carl Ceder is but I’ll try... Carl has worked with me on several cases of mine. Actually he has been my attorney since the very beginning. I went from looking at 5 years prison time to never seeing the inside of prison walls and now being released early from probation. Iwas arrested on June 14, 2017 for allegedly Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) in Plano, TX (Collin County). This caused a whirlwind of emotions for me and I didn’t know how to properly channel it all. I consulted with several attorneys about the matter, and finally came across Carl’s name in Avvo. I decided to call and Sandy was very professional, cordial, and insightful. Even though I had not established a client-attorney relationship with them, they were genuinely worried about me and told me about all the pertinent deadlines that I had to comply with, since my driver’s license was also affected by the arrest. In fact, Carl gave me his cell number and told me that I could text him whenever I liked. He tends to respond pretty quickly to his texts and gave me some good advice. He actually referred me to two other attorneys that I hadn’t talked to, and after meeting with them, I still felt like hiring Carl was the right choice for me. I was only working part-time then and was heading to law school, so Carl not only understood my financial constraints, but also how important it was for me to get this matter resolved. Future lawyers have to fill out a Declaration of Intent and are subject to critical scrutiny and investigation by the State Bar. Also, during my on campus interviews, many firms and potential employers asked me about my criminal background. I do believe that some declined to interview me further because I had this pending on my background. But yet again, as an attorney himself, Carl was able to help me mitigate the effect of this as much as possible, as he coached me on how to answer such questions and what exactly to disclose to both the Bar and my school. Carl is extremely well educated in forensics, as he has achieved the Forensic-Lawyer designation and regularly receives training (in forensics and gas chromatography) at the prestigious Axion labs up in Chicago. Since I consented to a blood test, this was crucial for me, as I needed an attorney that knew enough about the subject to help me put up a fight in court. This was especially needed for my case, because Collin County courts don’t like to dismiss DWIs since Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) is headquartered in Collin County, which is something that Carl’s assistant, Sandy, made clear to me upfront. Carl was very honest with me, giving me the good, the bad, and the ugly of my case, which made me realize that it was probably in my best interest to not only testify myself, but to also hire an expert witness to help me out with my defense. Carl is great at networking, so he had a list of experts ready to go and highly recommended a few to me. The expert was easy to work with and helped me out tremendously in my defense. We went to trial, where Carl was able to curate a strategy specific to my case and my background that helped me earn an Acquittal, the best result I could have hoped for! After my trial, the jury claimed that Carl was “A Man for the People,” and I 100% agree. At this point, I no longer look at Carl as my attorney, I see him as a big-brother/mentor type of role model in my life. As someone who will be entering the legal industry soon, Carl has shown me what it takes to succeed and how I should go about carrying myself, handling clients, networking with industry professionals, and interacting with the courts. He’s given me advice on how to handle the stress of 1L exams, how to go about interviewing, what I should do during the summer, and he even offered to help me study for the bar once I graduate from law school. The man is constantly busy and has a personal life of his own, but he will always make time for you. While I hope to never find myself in trouble again, I will definitely keep a relationship with Carl, as he has moved Heaven and Earth for me.
