For fifteen years, I have known Matthew Carlton as a devoted father, a loyal husband, and a generous neighbor. Recently, I discovered that a considerable sum had been fraudently withdrawn from my bank account. When I was unable to get the bank to correct the situation, I employed Mr. Carlton. He very quickly resolved the dispute entirely in my favor.

Needed an LLC for a rental property in GA, I live in FL. Easy to enough do on my own, but on advice from a friend that owns property, I found a "brick and mortar attorney in the state the property is located", and proceeded. He said he has done plenty of these. The first issue was I didnt hear back and assumed all was well after I got him the information needed to accurately create the LLC. About 2 months in I called to confirm everything was done, and he told me he hadnt even filed the paperwork. He seemed apologetic, but he basically took my money and forgot about the job. Of course he needed more info to file, which I provided immediately. Long story short, I paid about 500 bucks total in fees to him, and the state apparently, for 3 attempts to register my business. Finally got it registered on the third attempt. Apparently he didn't do a search on the GA commerce site to see if the business was already listed, that cost me, and then each time he filed, he said the state requires another $125 fee. Thats not true according to the state of GA. One fee to file within a reasonable timeframe, even if the application requires revision or correction. I hate being lied to. Just tell me you want more money to file the paperwork, dont tell me the state requires another fee each time. Whatever. It's done. Small price to pay to have the peace of mind. Fast forward a year and go to sell the house. Let the realtor know the property is in an LLC. Completely wasted her time as she struggled with due diligence, and cant find any evidence that I am not the homeowner. No legal evidence of an LLC tied to that rental property! Essentially, he created the LLC, but never filed the required documents with the state to have the property change ownership to the LLC. The very reason for this whole process. Initially I felt sorry for him, just thought he was an idiot. Now reading some of these reviews it would appear that he is deceiving clients, or at a minimum takes money for services NOT rendered. I am not certain if his intent is malicious or not, but my experience was definitely poor.

This guy Matt, Julie our management company manager called him while we were in an HOA meeting to remove the HOA board. He wrote a letter to our management company for us to get a meeting and a vote to remove or keep them. He sat in the front to the side totally detached. When asked a question he got up answering to Matby Julie as I said read something the management company manger showed him, I’m not sure he read it. Then he sat down. He said the bills say you can’t vote. We paid him $1,800 for nothing. What a waste of money. I don’t know why he came he want engaged. I guess to show his face for $1,800. I would have rather have seen Steve Harvey’s face a fake judge on TV. I wish there was a -1 rating!

Every attorney takes forever to schedule. I called this law firm. The attorney happened to pick up the phone call and answered my question right away. Very reliable and responsible attorney.

Hired him for an eviction case for a family member who speaks limited English and was charged double for their rent. He went to court and didn’t contest any of the charges which leaves them with a judgment paying double for the rent and now they’re out extra money for even hiring him. Waste of money.

Quick, Honest Assessment but Very Rude! He literally gave me his opinion then hung up on me. My apt place broke my washing machine and they're refusing to take accountability and fix or replace my appliance. Because the machine is used and very old he suggested I just let it go and get a new one. Before I could even give a response or show appreciation for his advice, he just hung up on me. Glad I didn't trust them to handle my situation.

I called today for the free consultation offered on his site, and as soon as I mentioned that I may not be able to engage his services immediately due to financial constraints, he said, "good luck" and hung up in my face. If the character and decency of a person is important to you as you consider options, skip him.

Matt is excellent and knows the law in and out. He’s very articulate in his approach. You can sleep easy knowing he’s on your side. I highly recommend Matt Carlton.

Mr. Carlton was friendly, but we were unsure if we were dealing with him or a secretary from the responses we received, as they would be one-sentence replies, improper grammar, etc. We were shocked that our filing was handwritten and not typed. It wasn't even easy to read as I would categorize it as chicken scratch. We had to conduct weekly check-ins to get the status of our landlord-tenant dispute case, which took a year and a half. I previously worked as a judicial secretary, so I had some familiarity with legal filings. In one instance, we were sent someone else's case information. I would not recommend his service unless you want to do most of the work yourself.
