JOHN DILL was my court appointed attorney for an IVC (INVOLUNTARY COMMITAL) that I was desperate to obtain for a loved one. Upon my initial consultation with Dill, he spent most of my time persuading me there was a very strong chance this was going to fail. He handed me some pamphlets on treatment options and I walked out of his office feeling extremley hopeless and defeated. I was also confused as to why my case was handed to an attorney who had such a negative outlook on this particular type of litigation, but I guess it was a win win for him, regardless of the outcome. I'm sure he could sense my naiveté and may have felt that if he could convince me not to proceed, it would mean no sweat off his back and he would still make money. Which he did. I ended up giving up on the notion, but ultimately decided to call him back a few weeks later to find out if I could still proceed. Once again, he tried very hard to convince me that my chances of success were slim to none. Despite his efforts, I told him that I would like to go through with the IVC and we set a date to meet for proceeding with the case. However, I ultimately ended up calling his office and canceled everything. Sensing from him such a pessimistic outlook on the matter, I had a feeling things would likely not end in my favor and I would be out a lot of money. A few months later, and even more desperate than before, I decided to file for another IVC. However, this time I was (quite thankfully) appointed a different attorney. Within the first few minutes of speaking with her, I was releif stricken. She was the epitome of optimism! Not once did she try to convince me that I was wasting my time, or sway me in the other direction. She made no promises, however she remained OPTIMISTIC Throughout the case and followed through with everything. Her hardwork and dedication paid off very quickly and we WON my case and my loved one received the treatment we'd all been hoping for. Fast forward a few months. I received my bill for Mr. Dills services. Among one of the charges was a fee for over $300 for IVC drafts that Dill drew up. Papers that I never laid eyes on or received copies of prior to or after the case being closed. I called his office to inquire about the charge and request copies of the paperwork and ended up arguing with his ill mannered secretary for several minutes about the matter. She basically walked me around in circles trying to justify the charge. She also proudly informed me that Mr. Dill had already been paid by the court and that there was really nothing I could do about it now. Oh, but there is.... I can leave this review in hopes that I may save someone else their time and money. I was charged over $500 for this man to pick up my case and then masterfully persuade me to not follow through with it. There are other attorneys out there that will take on IVC cases with confidence and optimism. Through trial and error I found a great one. One worth giving my hard earned money to. Do your research first! Call and ask questions. Don't settle for less than you deserve! **This review is based soley on my own, personal experience with Claggette & Dill.** Mr. Dill did finally mail me copies of the paperwork that I was charged for, along with a nice, condescending letter. I'll let this be response to your letter Mr. Dill, and my most sincere opinion of you and your "services".
