I would not recommend this agency whatsoever it’s a hit and miss chance if you have no other options I wish you luck for me I did not get the help I needed for my restraining order and the lawyer tried to say it was a conflict of interest they are very tricky good luck to anyone who goes here

I am very grateful for knowledgable and helpful legal advice when dealing with tenant/landlords issues.

Lost and confused no help at all

Great organization and great people. And that's from the administration assistant right up through their lawyer. I have no idea why there are negative reviews, especially about their attorney Victoria. She was very helpful and professional. I'm a low income senior and my landlord was selling the rental I live in. Things got nasty from him and his lawyers. Victoria explained my rights and what my options were. It ended up great having someone look out for me. Things have turned around. The landlord changed his attitude and I got enough time to find a new rental. Thanks for you help CCSLS.

I agree with reviews about Veronica She is uncaring and unprofessional (go to their website and look at her profile, every word is a joke) Had my Mother crying on the phone Talked to her like she was a child Not helpful at all Quite the opposite Tried confusing us and make us feel stupid She even lied Said she never spoke with landlord but he told us she did Started when he bought property and tried raising our rent $600 (he owns it and can do whatever he wants he says) Contacted them and assigned to Veronica She made contact with owner Was told to ask for copy of lease and with no prior discussion he added a deposit of $3000 (we've lived here 6 years) There is another house on property and they have a $600 deposit (he raised their rent $900) so he's happy Final outcome.... Veronica's answer was you better pay it (she obviously helped him with this decision) and in no way helped us or reassure us Did NOTHING Felt concerned about our well being as well as other seniors How can she be helping anyone with such hatred inside her I reached out to her boss Jason That was worse then talking to her Sarcastic Condescending Quite the a$$hole Making excuses, belittling us and trying to make us feel bad because he can't keep employees Not our problem I called with a problem that they are set up to help with and that was as stressful as our living situation These people have way too much pleasure in upsetting and not helping our most vulnerable community They do not need to be in this business That's right I haven't forgotten what you did I will update this because there is an agency you can report them to and they need to be made aware of their business tactics You're suppose to be in the biz of helping....not hurting

I spoke with Victoria who told me she’s a lawyer from Contra Costa Senior Legal Service facility. After two days she call me back with no explanation and refused to help me out with my case . I’m really do not understand why !! Next day I call back to spoke to her supervisor who gave me some excuses but never told me the real truth why she doesn’t want to take my case if she already help three people for the same complex with similarities issues. Very disappointed unprofessional people . This was my first and last time to talk to them.

I have gotten my taxes done here two years in a row. This year will be my third year.

Very helpful & friendly. Drew up a will with living POA(power of attorney) free of charge. I got answers to many questions. The Law students and the Professor were professional and knowledgeable and very thorough. This is a wonderful service.

I am a victim of rent fraud and discrimination on the basis of disability, and Contra Costa Senior Legal Services refused to help me. The lawyer I spoke to--I believe her name was Veronica--was not even familiar with the most elementary facts of tenant law, such as that one tenant cannot evict another, that eviction requires a cause, that someone who has lived in a place for 28 days and receives mail there is by law on the lease, and that the disabled are protected by law from most evictions. She declined even to research these questions. If this agency is neither qualified nor interested in protecting people over 60 (I am 62) from unlawful evictions, they should be immediately defunded and forced to close down. Employees should not be allowed to post reviews, since their reviews are not and cannot be impartial. They are being paid by the people they are reviewing.
