I hired Jackie for my custody and divorce case, and I regret that decision completely. She showed a serious lack of communication and preparation from start to finish. She came to mediation unprepared, then actually left me there alone—unannounced—forcing me to sign documents by myself. Later, I discovered that several things we discussed and agreed on in mediation were not even included in the final custody agreement. To make matters worse, she never once informed me that my divorce was finalized. I had to find that out on my own. For a case that directly impacted my child and my future, she showed no sense of urgency or advocacy. I felt completely unsupported and misrepresented. I’m now in the process of finding new counsel to fix what should have been handled correctly the first time. I would strongly caution anyone considering this attorney to look elsewhere—someone who will actually communicate, prepare, and fight for you the way a family lawyer should.

Scott is hands down an awesome attorney!! He got me off a very serious speeding ticket that would have differently effected my life in several ways. I don't normally speed and this was a split second dissension. Scott told me if he didn't beat this he would appeal it for free!! What Lawyer does that!! I can't thank him enough.

What a horrible experience working with William W. Smith. Will doesn't care about his clients. The moment he (and the paralegal) took the money, he never cared about our case, our timelines etc. Had to hire another attorney at the last minute. Stay away from this firm.

Update: I was refunded. My money was taken without service being rendered. As soon as I paid - I was given the brush off by Will Smith. The lawyer also agreed to services and 10days later said they didn't have time for the work and hasn't refunded my money. It was very confusing as when a lawyer says they will do something we expect them to do it.

My nephew, who has a history of addiction, was facing very serious possession charges in Central Virginia which met the standard of distribution; he was looking at a mandatory sentence of numerous years, and Scott took the case. I could write a book about all of the moving parts and complexities of this case; it was not cut and dry. But Scott knew what to do at each turn. With Scott’s encouragement, a not guilty plea was entered. Scott covered the pros and cons of a jury trial vs. a bench trial, and we made our selection. Scott knew exactly what points to argue, and exactly how to argue them. We trusted him every step of the way. We were overwhelmed with joy when the ‘not guilty’ verdict was read.
