They advertise " we help both employers and employees" but I called and they said they do not help employees.

I didn't even have to speak to one of the attorneys to know this is a good firm based on Carmen, intake/initial person you speak with prior to a consult. Although this firm couldn't assist me due to the situation and circumstances, Carmen was so kind and took time out of her day to listen to what I had going on and what I was looking for. If I ever run into any business litigation concerns in the further, I'll be contacting Carmen/this firm first. Thank you for your kindness, Carmen. Best, Shelby

We needed to find an attorney to represent us in an unemployment case against the SD Department of Labor. . It was not easy finding an attorney to take this case as it is not considered a big money-maker for the law firm - which I heard from at least five different law firms. Davenport, Evans, Hurwitz & Smith, was recommended to me so I called the office and was given the name and email for Eric. He listened to the facts of the case and offered to look at the paperwork and give me an estimate of the cost. Eric not only read up on similar cases but also made sure we were prepared for the hearing. He met with each one of the witnesses called to testify and prepared us for the hearing. During the hearing it was obvious that he was totally prepared for this case. He was very respectful to the other attorney and the judge but it was clear he took charge of the hearing. The staff at Davenport, Evans, Hurwitz & Smith was polite, cordial and answered all my questions in a timely manner. I have great confidence, trust and respect for Eric and this firm.

Used them for debt collection and were charged outrageous fees. We wound up recovering almost nothing after their fees, even though we did most of the legwork and information retrieval. Would not recommend this firm and would never use again.
