Rene was exceptionally courteous, very knowledgeable and patient. I was put at ease right away. I'm very grateful for the help. Would highly recommend them for your legal matters. greg.
This firm was amazing representing my wife and her sister in a case that seemed doomed early on. We found Doug and his team and it changed everything. Thanks to all @ the firm. Great people.
Thank you Stephen! We're honored to serve you and your family.
Rene was very caring and informative. He patiently answered our questions and told us what was to come through the probate process.
Thank you Jon!
What a legal journey. My sister and I were appointed a fiduciary who was difficult in the extreme. We wrestled long and hard over legal representation. Many calls to Doug and staff. The patience with us (and the case) displayed by Doug and his staff was exemplary. Once we hired Doug my stress levels subsided. More important was his skill before the court. Like watching an episode of Law & Order. Amazing. We are grateful to have had him in our corner. Most important, he won the case. Thank you Doug and staff.
Thank you very much Cheryl. It was an honor to serve you and I'm so happy to have been a part of this victory for you and your family.
I was on telephone call only because I'm in California. They were very helpful and answered all my questions
Thank you Penny!
Rene helped me understand my situation by looking up and explaining my paperwork to me. So I’m a bit more hopeful in my circumstances.
Thank you Nasagi! We're glad we could help.
Worst firm ever! I regret hiring them. They are not supportive. They’re rude and can’t remember anything. The paralegal does things out of anger. To threaten their own client is insane work.
I'm sorry you feel this way Ashlie. There's a lot of moving parts in your case and perhaps we haven't done a great job of explaining to you all of the steps that are required to get you appointed as Personal Representative and why the Court requires what appears to be this lengthy process we're currently going through.
If you'd like to stop the process and start over with another Firm, please let me know. Please also feel free to call and ask for me (Doug) so I can better understand your frustrations. That said, as far as I can tell from my review of the file and from talking to my staff about your concerns, everything is on track and is right where it should be.
During a difficult time in my family’s life after losing a loved one, we reached out to Rene Baca and his firm. From the very beginning, they were compassionate, understanding, and incredibly easy to work with. Rene Baca was professional, responsive, and took the time to clearly explain every step of the process, giving us peace of mind when we needed it most. We are truly grateful for his guidance and support. I highly recommend Rene Baca and his firm to anyone looking for a caring and trustworthy attorney.
Thank you for this review Aldo. Please know that we're always here for you if you have any other questions later. Thank you for the time you put into writing this review.
If you happen to be going through a divorce and want to write a new will that removes your ex as a beneficiary or a medical power of attorney holder or a living will trustee, DO NOT use this firm. I was wanting to remove my soon-to-be ex husband from these things to ensure he didn't benefit from my death, nor see to it that I did die. His lawyers answer to that was that I needed to wait because he would only get half and my children would get the other half after going through the stress and expense of probate. I'm sure he would volunteer to handle that probate and eat up as much of my estate as he could.
Tracy, I'm sorry you feel this way. I talked to the person who you talked to and I listened to the phone call myself.
Please know that you hung up on him within 90 seconds. No real questions were asked, and no real answers were given in that short period of time. That said, I understand your frustration, but because you hung up within about 90 seconds of the call starting, our recommendation couldn't be fully explained. There's some nuance here, which I will explain in further detail below.
That said, with the limited information I have ...
You do not have to wait to do an estate plan that disinherits your soon to be ex-husband. You can do that today and do a Will that disinherits him. You don't have to wait for anything to do that. All you have to do is disinherit him from receiving anything in your estate. However, because Arizona is a community property state, you have to do this in stages. First, come in (or go anywhere) now and do a Will that's generic in terms of just disinheriting your soon to be ex-husband and that gives your entire estate (whatever that may be) to whoever you want.
Second, after the divorce is finalized and you have a property separation order, you come in (or go anywhere) again and do another estate plan giving whatever you want to whoever you want because then you'll know what assets you have control over.
If you have any other questions about this, please feel free to call back and ask for me (Doug Newborn). I don't expect you to hire us, but I'll answer your questions for free and give you a couple great estate planning attorney names as referrals.
Again, I'm sorry for any inconvenience we caused Tracy and I hope the above is helpful for you.
I had a consultation with Daniel Ahn today, and unfortunately it wasn’t a great experience. He was polite, but I didn’t find the conversation very insightful. I had one specific question I was hoping to get clarity on, and I had to keep redirecting the discussion back to it, as we spent a lot of time on topics we were already aware of and informed about. I tend to communicate in a direct and to-the-point manner, and I think that may have come across as rude, which was not my intention. I was simply trying to focus on the reason for my call. Again, he was kind and professional, but the conversation felt unfocused and not as productive as I had hoped.
Thank you for your review Kayla. Please feel free to call our office and ask to speak directly with me (Doug), so I can better understand what question(s) you had, and so I can better understand your experience with my Firm.
Rene was great. To the point, informative and very knowledgeable.
Thank you Michelle! I hope we were able to help you.
I have used Douglas’s services on more than one occasion. I am an attorney practicing in another state, but he was most helpful, knowledgeable and effective in handling some probate matters for my mother who lived in Arizona. I highly recommend him and his firm.
Thank you Gail! We're glad to continue to serve you and your family.
I had a consultation 10/1/2025. I was told they required a 7K retainer to do guardianship case for very disabled brother. I was encouraged to download Clio app for messaging. After several messages, phone calls and emails NOTHING has happened and no explanation. Not sure but appears to be a scam! Thought we were referred to legit practice by reputable family estate attorney
Kimberly, this is Doug. I'm sorry to hear about this and I completely understand why you're frustrated. My office is closed on Monday for the Holiday, but I will get an answer to you by Tuesday about what's happening in your case. I appreciate you letting me know that we haven't lived up to your expectations of us, and of the standard that we set for ourselves.
Rene was of immense help in summarizing and advising me of my legal options.
Thank you Ralph! We look forward to serving you.
Thank you Doug for being very thorough while explaining my options. In addition to, letting me know that you are willing to fight for me to have the best outcome regarding my situation.
Thank you Ms. Netherly. I'm sorry this is happening to your family. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
UPDATE: After speaking to the office they were apologetic regarding the lack of communication and information. I explained my position and they were understanding and stated that they would look into the issues regarding the delay of information. Very pleased with their response. I went with this law firm to help with a deed transfer upon death and so far I have to say the communication has been terrible. They stated they were going to send an email confirming the details of what was going to happen before the call, which they did not do. I even called to see if the email address was wrong but it was not. Then they stated that they would send the email of the paperwork so I can hire a notary to have it completed but still nothing yet. They were quick to take my $450, but will not respond when there is a question. Sooo disappointed with the whole thing. My family is already going through alot and to add this to the pile is just the cherry on the Sunday. All we were asking for is communication but unfortunately thats not how they operate. If you are looking for someone to help with estate issues I recommend looking else where.
I'm sorry you feel this way Vivian. Please call us and ask to talk to me directly (Doug) about your experience with my Firm.
My notes show that we were hired on 12/30. My Firm was off for the New Year's Holiday on 12/31 and 1/1, and we completed the first draft on 1/2 and should get final draft done early this week. I do not have any notes that this was an emergency, and so I'm not sure what your expectations were here, so please call me so that I can better understand your frustrations with my Firm.
Thank you for your time and I wish you a Happy New Year.
Have no issue with the firm as a whole even though they ended up dropping my case. I think they did a great job for no money up front so props for that. Doug tried to work with me regarding payments. After I did not read the contract for probate guardianship as well as I should have before signing(read closely). Which I take full accountability for. Also, Suzanne took a lot of her time to answer all questions I had and was very detailed. Thanks to the firm for your hard work. I’m sorry there were issues with the payment regarding my mom’s business account, and the decision not to sell the home. Everything will get squared away soon with the payment. Have a happy new year.
Thank you for this review Charles and Happy New Year to you too!
Dear Mr. Newborn, I wanted to take a moment to express my appreciation for the guidance and support I’ve received from Mr. Rumsley and the support staff (Laura, Amanda and Salina) as we work through the estate matters. Their responsiveness and steady assistance have made a challenging process much more manageable, and I am grateful for the clarity and professionalism they’ve provided. It’s not over by any means but wanted you to know how much I value the leadership and structure that you’ve put in place. It’s been reassuring to have such a capable team walking alongside me during this process. Thank you again for your oversight and for ensuring that the estate is handled with care and diligence. Warm regards, Robert A. McAllister-Personal Rep
Thank you very much Robert. We're honored to serve you and I will be sure to share this with my entire staff. We appreciate you.
Outstanding law firm. They helped our family during a very challenging time. Thank you, Doug!
Thank you for trusting us during this time Jennifer, and thank you for giving us such a great review.
