ATTENTION VERY BAD ATTORNEY BEN EDER. In 2012, I hired attorney Ben Eder and paid him sixty thousand dollars to represent me in a criminal trial. Unfortunately, what I received was not professional legal representation. During a five-day trial, Mr. Eder spoke for no more than 45 minutes. He made no objections, even when unqualified witnesses were allowed to testify about handwriting analysis — something only certified experts should do. He did not challenge the prosecution’s claims, did not speak up for me in front of the judge or the jury, and did not defend me in any meaningful way. At the end of the trial, he simply put me on the stand to testify on my own. Additionally, Mr. Eder did not hire a private investigator to look into my case. Instead, he relied on state investigators who were clearly biased against me. Every professional attorney understands the importance of hiring their own private investigator to build a strong defense, but Mr. Eder failed to do so. Because of this lack of defense, I was convicted and sentenced to 35 years in prison. I served the 12 YEARS of my sentence. At that time, I had very limited English and didn’t know how to file a complaint within the legal time limit. Today, I speak better English and feel a responsibility to share my story publicly, so others don’t go through what I went through. This is not an act of revenge. I am not making threats or breaking the law. I am currently on probation supervision and follow all rules strictly. I have the legal right to share my experience so people can make informed choices. It deeply concerns me to see this attorney rated as a five-star lawyer, knowing what he did — or failed to do — in my case. I lost twelve years of my life. The damage was emotional, mental, physical — and permanent. People deserve to know the truth.
