I had an incredibly disappointing and stressful experience with this firm, specifically with Linda Strohschein, the principal attorney. I scheduled a consultation to obtain emergency legal help for my mother, who has dementia. I attended the full consultation, provided my credit card, uploaded sensitive documents through their client portal, and was given every impression that I had successfully retained their services. The consultation was underwhelming—mostly general elder law information that could be found in a basic Google search for UAGPPJA (The Uniform Adult Guardianship and Protective Proceedings Jurisdiction Act). Still, I proceeded in good faith, assuming they were moving forward with my case. A day later, I received a long, but vague, email saying they could no longer assist me—without any explanation and offering referral to other firms in the area. Then a week later, I received a email stating they couldn’t process my payment, which clearly stemmed from a clerical error on their end when entering my card. I have since acquired a DIFFERENT firm for counsel, which has been a phenomenal experience so far. This firm wasted my time, mishandled a sensitive and urgent family legal matter, and created unnecessary confusion and delays as it is not required to hire an attorney to petition the courts for emergency guardianship over a sick parent in Cook County. Their intake process was misleading, their communication unprofessional, and their handling of a vulnerable client’s family member was frankly unacceptable. That being said, I cannot in good faith recommend this firms services—especially for anyone seeking competent and compassionate guidance during an elder law crisis.
Whenever someone wants to retain the services of an attorney or law firm, it is necessary for that form to run a conflict check to confirm that the representation of that person would not cause a potential conflict of interest with an existing client. An Attorney is prohibited from taking on a new client where that client's interest is in direct conflict with the interest of an existing client. This individual was advised that the firm could not represent her in the matter because of a clear conflict of interest. The firm had to decline any representation of this individual in the matter, which apparently angered this individual resulting in this review.
I wanted estate planning and elder law services for my mother and aunt back in 2018. I did a web search and amongst all the peer-reviewed journals, I noted a highly awarded, well-endorsed, and respected name kept appearing. James Siebert was my first and only call. We met with him and his team, led by attorney Paige Fox. His office and staff were very accommodating. His knowledge and expertise were almost intimidating; however, this is what I want in MY attorney. Your attorney should be the smartest one in the room, they should answer any and all questions, and this is what gives you peace of mind as a client. In particular, Paige Fox was great. She handled everything we asked of her in a compassionate and timely manner. Very reasonable cost for tiptop services. Thank you all very much.
Thank you for helping my brother and I get through the process of Medicaid approval for us. It's always difficult to get an attorney that can give you advice, but James Siebert was always available for phone calls. The families are usually not prepared to apply for Medicaid benefits and filling it out incorrectly will delay approval.
Estate Planning " I would like to thank Paige N. Fox for her expertise in preparing estate planning documents for my wife and I. Paige's commitment to details has given us a great sense of security for the future. You helped us pro bono in our time of need. Words can't express our gratitude for your care and professionalism." Shadene and Doug B.
Worked primarily with Paige N. Fox as well as several others at the office. Everyone was a delight to work with. Paige handled all of our needs efficiently while still taking the time to make sure we understood everything we needed to know. We were recommended to the office by someone and I wouldn't hesitate to pass that recommendation along. For Elder care issues, I highly recommend Paige and the whole office.
Paige Fox with the law office of James C. Siebert & Associates couldn’t have made my estate planning needs any easier. She is an extremely knowledgeable and professional attorney and made the whole process of creating a trust very simple and easy to understand. Any of my questions had very clear and concise answers. My documents were all created in a timely manner and coordination for final signatures was a breeze. Paige was very easy to communicate with readily available via phone, email, or text. If you are looking to create a trust, will, or just have any questions regarding estate planning and elder law, I would highly recommend Paige!
Paige N. Fox, attorney with the Law Office of James C. Siebert & Associates, did an excellent job guiding my family through a complicated bureaucratic process with Medicaid and ultimately getting our application approved. She also successfully helped us settle lingering financial issues and a dispute with a care facility. She is extremely knowledgeable, trustworthy, and was a strong advocate for my husband. I highly recommend her for your Elder Care needs.
We would rate Mr. Siebert a ten if we could. He was extremely helpful with our Irrevocable Trust where as other attorneys were not. If you need an Elderlaw attorney he is the man to see.
Mr. Siebert was readily available, patient, and candid in my discussion with him. He took time to explain the nuances of the legal matter I needed to address. I appreciate his patience and his thorough review of the law and the process of addressing my topic of interest.
I reached out to the law office based on the reviews. I guess people really don't care how much they pay for legal advice. When we did a consultation via zoom, we needed one thing answered. How does the trust from one state pertain to the state of Illinois? Mr. Siebert's response was, I don't know I will have to go through it (4pages). But, I sent it to you prior to our zoom meeting for you to look through and advise. $585 later and we never got our answer to one question. I learned my lesson NEVER go by just the reviews and really do your homework before hiring the first lawyer.
Thank you for submitting a review. I am sorry that you felt that the office failed to answer one of your questions during your initial Zoom consultation; however, I want you to know we take all feedback very seriously. Attorney confidentiality obligations prevents any response in regard to the specifics in your comments.<br><br>Initial consultations are intended for a preliminary factual and legal analysis, used to determine if further legal services are required and, if so, to make recommendations as to an appropriate course of action. The Initial Consultation Agreement which must be signed and agreed prior to an initial consultation provides<br>" The purpose of your initial consultation is for the attorney to advise you, the prospective client what, if anything, the Law Office can do for you, and what the minimum fee therefore will be. The purpose is not to render a definitive legal opinion as it may be impossible to fully assess a matter within the time frame allotted for a consultation or with the information or documents that you may be able to provide at the initial consultation".<br>Frequently, what appears to be a simple issue is in fact much more complex, especially when taking into consideration the entirety of the situation. That is frequently not the case. Many issues are too complex to render a legal opinion without further investigation and, therefore, these matters cannot be addressed during a short initial consultation. It is a common misconception that a shorter document is easier to provide an opinion on than a more lengthy document. Examining shorter documents requires not only reviewing the provisions contained in the document, but determining what necessary provisions were not included in the document. Further, there are questions of legal interpretation that, unfortunately, cannot be addressed with a simple yes or no answer. While our office prides itself on going above and beyond clients’ expectations, however I apologize if we failed to adequately communicate our preliminary opinion and recommendations to you during your consultation.
I was very pleased with the work of this law firm. I was able to secure a 1st time consult appointment w/in 2 wks of reaching-out to the law office. Much time was spent assessing my needs beyond what I "thought" I needed. This is the expert advice/knowledge I was seeking. I met with Mr.James C. Siebert twice and worked more personally with Paige N. Fox (Attorney at Law). The thoroughness was beyond expectation when documents were executed and completed. I will seek the counsel of this law practice for future needs.
Becoming a senior I needed to update my trust to reflect my changing needs. I was referred to James Seibert by a friend who had hired him to do their trust. Both James Seibert and Paige Fox gave me sage advice on what changes needed to done to secure a good outcome for my aging years. Paige worked tirelessly to make deadlines happen. This is a good practice to trust for legal advice especially for seniors.
James Siebert deftly created a thorough document to diverse parties' and out of state attorney's high satisfaction. Highly recommend. Highly trustworthy.
My sister and I, independent of one another, found James Siebert, in our internet search for an elder law attorney to handle our father’s trust. Our family is grateful to have found him. James Siebert is a top level, knowledgeable elder law attorney. He’s an expert’s expert. He walked us through the involved process with professionalism, ease and integrity. We feel fortunate to have been to the best.
Great estate planning firm from one of the best in the business. Mr Seibert has received numerous awards for both himself and his firm for excellence in subject matter. His firm provides excellent service and has completely revamped their offices for Covid 19 protection. We recently wrapped up our revised estate plan and related health documentation and found the process both seamless and informatve. High 5 to the entire firm and especially Paige Fox who is a tireless, outstanding lawyer and one of the most pleasant person you will ever meet.
James Siebert and Courtney Todt Podkowa represented me in a probate matter involving my mother's estate. They were both highly professional, responsive, and a pleasure to work with. I was kept informed throughout the process, and the legal issues were addressed in a very competent manner. I highly recommend them if you require legal assistance related to a similar matter.
After researching numerous law firms, my husband and I decided to have a trust and will drawn up by James C. Siebert and one of his Legal Associates, Courtney Todt Podkowa. The 5 star reviews from a number of rating sites were confirmed by the exemplary service, conscientiousness and integrity that we experienced working with James and Courtney. They have provided a seamless process in establishing a trust and other legal documents and have also been so helpful and accomodating when needed. It is particularly reassuring that James is a peer designated Super Lawyer for 2019 - 2020 and President of the Illinois Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. How fortunate to have found such a powerful yet compassionate legal team to advocate for us going forward!
Paige N. Fox was attentive, knowledgeable, and responsive to my needs. She was also pleasant to work with. All I wanted, needed, and expected. Thanks
