I hired Liz in the summer of 2024 to help me with my divorce. I only had her reviews to go by before hiring her. To make a long story short my divorce was almost 2 years of absolute chaos and misery. In that span we were in court over a dozen times due to my ex being overly litigious, filing false accusations, baseless motions, and or not providing the information she was supposed to. As the other side disparaged me with falsehoods and accusations Liz and her stellar team stayed true to the law and professional. When I wanted to fight back against the lies Liz kept me steadfast and continued to use the law to defend me. Out of the dozen or so times we were in court we won all but once. The time we lost was more of the judge's hands being tied so a ruling didn't go our way. I learned to trust Liz and her strategy. Her team worked tirelessly to build a case that was bulletproof. My ex lied about her income, lied about me, trying to tell a story that Liz chewed apart. Liz and team stuck to the facts that she was able to prove. There were points where I didn't think I could continue with the fight but was comforted by the fact that my team was working their tails off to build my case. They were very diligent with keeping me on task and providing the hundreds of documents each and every month to make sure we were following the law. One of the most important things Liz and her team did was get to know me. I felt like I had a group of allies that were truly fighting not only to secure my financial future but protect my integrity. As the opposing counsel used gimmicks and side show tactics Liz remained poised. Every time we were in court I was proud to have her fighting for me. One of the most memorable and critical tactics Liz had in her tool chest was using my exes own financial documents against her when we finally had our day (or 3 days) in court. She walked my ex into a corner that nobody in the room knew Liz was walking her into and it would turn out to be the final nail in her coffin. My ex was asking for everything. At the end the judge's ruling matched Liz's offer almost to a T. I cannot say enough about Liz and her team (Carol, Sarah, Gloria, Veronica) were so empathetic, professional, had working, and truly protectors for me. Knowing that they were not just there for a paycheck but to truly fight for me is what got me through the very long and horrific battle. At the end she was able to assure that I will not be financially ruined for the rest of my life. Liz is a warrior and an extremely savvy and strategic attorney. I'm glad she was on my side and not my opposing counsel.
**Stay away from this firm!!** ~I do not leave one star reviews lightly~ I'm embarrassed to have to say that I was almost duped by this attorney into representing me, but she did get a ton of money from me. I was with them throughout a retainer and a half and 8 months later for a childless, asset-less divorce. I left their firm with next to no work done that I didn't do the majority of on my own and only the initial petition having been filed and paid a retainer and a half. I tried to professionally converse with Elizabeth about fees and time frames during the case, and she suddenly withdrew her representation, without any discussion, through an email where she neglected to take any responsibility for her office's inactivity during my duration under their counsel. Even through the inactivity on my case, the fees kept rolling in for reading emails multiple times as well as multiple people reading the same email multiple times. Elizabeth also charged me to tell the court she wasn't going to be in office, and charged me for the people to prepare and file that same copy paste document with changed dates. I was nickel and dimed, that's all I can say. I will say that with as easily as she gave in after an email requesting clarification about charges and how I felt that my case was being put on the back burner, I'm glad to see she won't be representing me in court now, as she would likely give up as easily in court as she seemed to wither and run away after just one email. Steer clear of Elizabeth Christy and find better representation elsewhere, you'll thank yourself.
Firstly- let me start off by saying this is was by far the WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD WITH AN ATTORNEY. I am going through a very personal traumatic situation and needed sound legal advice. I reached out to Elizabeth to gain a second opinion. I started this process on 11/15/2022 and it took over two weeks to get a confirmed date for a consultation. I was understanding and provided grace. As a working professional myself I understand how busy and hectic things can be especially at the end of the year. When I finally got the consultation date confirmed it was then met with an last minute request to reschedule. Again, I provided grace and moved the consultation to once again fit Elizabeth's needs. I was told by their assistant that I can send over supporting documents and that the attorney (Elizabeth) would review prior to the consultation (screenshot added). Fast forward to this morning 12/19 at 10am. I meet with Elizabeth and from the start she had a very unpleasant disposition, lacking empathy and care. She was to unwilling to listen and did not attempt to understand throughout the entire consultation. I made the mistake of assuming she would read the supporting documents before hand, but Elizabeth made it very clear that she did not. She visibly got upset with me while I was trying to give her details of my situation and answer her questions. It even got to the point, where I said, "You appear to be getting frustrated by my responses, is there something I am doing wrong?" I was met with, "Yeah, you just keep going on these tangents" At this point I was floored, I could tell that all she cared about or wanted was the $300 fee which was paid well in advance. Elizabeth talked down to me, was rude, interrupting me mid response the ENTIRE 20mins I spoke with her. Her behavior towards me, and they way she spoke to me was utterly disrespectful. I felt so disrespected that I stopped her 20 minutes into a paid one hour consultation and verbalized to her that I did not appreciate how she was treating me and that she now has my $300 which is cool, but I will NOT be continuing this consultation. I stated, "I am going through trauma, you have no empathy nor care for me or my situation. You are being extremely rude and unprofessional" I also feel as though Elizabeth was so quick to "talk down" to me because I a woman of color. In conclusion, if you are looking for sound legal advice from an attorney who will be prepared, actually hear your story, value your time and have empathy, then PLEASE LOOK ELSEWHERE!
5 Stars Made my life easy Very happy with Elizabeth Group Thank you
Conor Buie did not think certain records or proof of things were necessary. So now Im going back in with these records to prove my side. He didn't believe my story even though there was proof. He never even tried to get the records or even suggest I do. You'd have to know the entire story to understand why these records were so important, but they were crucial. I was ignored and not believed. I now have these records and an attorney who didn't even want to start a case without having all the details. Find yourself an experienced lawyer and one that believes you. He's not the guy. I will be reporting to the Bar Association. From reading prior responses from the owner, I will already in my defense say it took this long to write the review because the courts were closed for a long time and I finally got a new attorney. It wasn't until I saw how this attorney operated that I realized how badly I was misrepresented.
Hello -- Conor has not worked at Elizabeth Christy Law firm for 1.5 years.
There is no record of Serenity as a client of Elizabeth Christy Law Firm.
I had consulted with three family law attorneys before retaining Elizabeth Christy's office. Elizabeth communicates thoughtfully, clearly and timely. I never had to follow up on a question I had or a matter she was to handle. In my divorce case, the other party, along with her attorney, was fairly difficult in my opinion, often making unsubstantiated claims and misrepresenting facts within the documents they were submitting to us and the court. To make matters harder on us I made a mistake and got a DUI during this time which was often used to characterize me in an unfavorable way. Though, with no judgement or hesitation, Elizabeth continued to draft and submit replies in response to the other parties claims and they were very clear and factual. At one point the court even awarded us $2,500 in attorney fees as a direct result of Elizabeth’s ability to stick to the facts and present them clearly and favorably to our side. Elizabeth’s fees were very transparent and I received monthly statements showing what work was done, how much time was committed to each task and a total amount due. Not once did I feel the need to question her billing practices. Without describing in detail every aspect, in the end our settlement resulted in 50/50 parenting time with my child and the asset allocation was more beneficial to me than I expected. I would not hesitate to retain Elizabeth again in the future.
Thank you for the kind words, Dean. You were a pleasure to work with and I’m honored to have had the opportunity to represent you.
I wasn't a client of Elizabeth Christy's, however, I gave my boyfriend at the time the money to pay for her to try to get full custody of his daughter. She was late to court, which is completely unprofessional and seemed unorganized and didn't use much of the information we provided her. I regret not having researched more lawyers and found one who is willing to work harder for their client. Right now she's probably spending more time replying to Google reviews than working on cases for her clients. I don't recommend using her.
Hello, Nicole - I’m not known for being late to court or for being disorganized. I also do not have a record of working with you. Perhaps you and your boyfriend worked with another law firm. If I am mistaken please email me with the name of the client you are referring to so I may attempt to resolve this with him. -Elizabeth
Conor was a huge help for me through the final steps of my divorce. He was very understanding, empathetic and listened. He offered me guidance but listened to what I had to say. He made it so much easier!
I worked with Conor Buie to come up with a parenting plan and child support order all the way from beginning to final order signed by judge. He helped me navigate the situation professionally and was prompt and helpful.
My experience with the Elizabeth Christy Law Firm in Vancouver started out a bit rocky, but then I meet Conor Buie and he saved me! Conor was very professional all in the handling of my divorce and my divorce got a bit messy, as most do. However, Conor took the time to make sure all my questions and concerns were answered in a timely matter, even when they shut down the courts due to Covid-19. He answered my emails and we even spoke over the phone a few times especially when I really needed some understanding. Furthermore, the Paralegals that work with Conor are also wonderful and handle things in a timely and respectful manner. I would recommend Conor and this Law Firm to anyone who is needing attorneys who take you seriously, are understanding, and most importantly take time to meet the needs of each client they have.
Conor Buie was my attorney during a nasty divorce from my wife of over 40 years. He was extremely professional, courtious and helpful with a hostile, inefficent apposing attorney that was representing my wife. Conor went out of his way to communicate with the apposing attorney when the case appeared to be going nowhere. I would recommend him to anyone who is in need of a competent, compasionate attorney.
Conor Buie was my lawyer for my child custody case and I couldn't have been happier with the result! I came in with the expectation that these types of cases take a long time and get hostile. And it was important to me to avoid that. Conor's calm and knowledgeable demeanor made the process so much easier for me. He listened to what I wanted in the parenting plan, and what my objectives were for the case, and got me exactly that! 5 out of 5 Stars!
Erin Morris is my attorney right now, she really is wonderful. If you need someone who is intelligent, caring, professional, personable, and hardworking, this is the attorney you want to hire. I always feel more confident and less stressed out after working together. She has helped me navigate this difficult and unnerving time in my life, with grace and calmness.
I recently worked with Erica Aquadro to litigate over child support agreements and throughout the process Erica was very thorough and effective at navigating the process. My income and work background is a tricky situation and Erica was meticulous at revisiting the structure of the documents to ensure I wasn't taken advantage of. Erica works under the assumption of "that's not happening to my client", and will not allow you to be bullied under pressure. She's very diplomatic with others and consistently has your best interest. The outcome of my case was very fair because of her diligence and I'm very appreciative of her strong work ethic. I will have no issues working with Erica in the future because it felt as if my family was in control of my case.
