Excellent experience for me. They explained every step quite thoroughly and gave me options as well as great advice. They were very communicative, answering phone calls and emails promptly. In addition, everyone I worked with was friendly and pleasant. Giving me such security and peace of mind with my trust/will was worth every penny.

My parent at age 93 was no longer able to live without managed care. He lived in Florida while I live in New England. He had dementia. I was able to get him into an assisted living with memory care. I did not have power of attorney and could not get it due to the dementia. His limited savings allowed for several months of care in the assisted living. But going forward he would most likely need to qualify for Medicaid. His social security and pension put him just over the Medicaid limit. Family Elder care helped guide me through the methods that could qualify him for Medicaid once his savings ran out. Family Elder care helped me gain guardianship through the Florida court system which gave me power to then manage the process of applying for Medicaid. The process was complicated and drawn out and not made any easier due to Covid, but with the help of Family Elder care and specifically Dalmary Vazquez the process was straight forward but lengthy. All our communication was done via email due to me being out of state. When my parent passed away, Dalmary and Family Elder care were there to help with getting the estate probated and closed. April 2022 Ms Dalmary Vazquez exhibited professional confidence and at the same time she was compassionate and sympathetic to my need to obtain Medicaid assistance for my mother. She managed the process and advised me on the progress of the application. All the behind-the-scenes phone calls, submission of data, and responses to inquiries was efficient, thorough, and resulted in approval for Medicaid. I am so thankful for Dalmary's quiet assurance that "she had this". She made a difficult decision easier.

We met with Dalmary from Family Elder Law in February to do our Estate Planning, Health Care Surrogate and Power of Attorney. Dalmary was so knowledgeable and gave us all the information we needed to set up our estate the way we needed to. My husband and I were very comfortable that we were in good hands when we left our first meeting. The follow up reviewed all the documents and answered other questions before signing off on them. We met with Peter today to receive the completed package and he made sure we had no other questions before we left. We highly recommend Family Elder Law for this type of legal assistance. Our Asset Protection and Medicaid application started with an attorney in Leesburg, VA. The trusts they wrote and the strategies they used to protect the assets made our case unnecessarily complex almost to the point of failure. It later surfaced that they were not qualified to file a Medicaid application in the state of Florida. This attorney said we would have to find a qualified Florida attorney at our own expense. We learned what a bad attorney is. We chose Jason Penrod of Family Elder Law for the Medicaid application. Family Elder Law reviewed the trusts from our Leesburg attorney and explained clearly to us how the battery of trusts the Virginia attorney had created were inadequate and could jeopardize the process and require going through probate; something even a basic trust can avoid. Family Elder Law took control after seeing the substandard work from the Leesburg attorney and drafted a Qualified Income Trust (QIT) to replace a poorly written Living Trust and corrected other Trusts. Their revised Trusts contained the proper language required for the States of Florida, Maryland, and Virginia where the assets were located. We now know what a good attorney is. We also worked with the staff of Family Elder Law and they earned our trust and confidence with their in-depth knowledge, clearly stating the direction we would proceed, and why this was a better strategy than what the Virginia attorney had started. Everyone, including Jason, were willing to clearly answer our numerous questions. When we emailed or sent a text, they responded within minutes not days. They knew how the different Trusts were essential to achieving a successful outcome. They clearly guided us in the roles and responsibilities for managing these Trusts and how to avoid possible costly errors. Several years have passed since we placed our faith in Jason and my mother-in-law sadly has since passed. I can say that fulfilling her final wishes were positive.

We highly recommend this firm. First they reviewed our out of state documents for a fixed cost. And met with us to discuss the results and present information for FL documents which they prepared for a fixed cost. Next we met to review in detail the FL documents and sign. A very efficient and professional process; at a very reasonable cost.
