I saw her for a contested divorce involving abuse. We set up a retainer and a payment plan. When things were happening in-the-moment and I needed her help right away, she screamed at me for calling her and refused to do anything without an additional $750 paid immediately. (At no time did she provide records of what was billed to my retsiner.) She refused to allow me to presrnt evidence of abuse (including confessions from my husband), insisting, "Judges don't like to see stuff like that." As a result, on the day of the trial, the judge said I sounded psychotic, for making the statements I did witjout evidence. (My husband even perjured himself at the hearing. She would not let me present evidence of this.) I had witness of the abuse, but she would only allow me to prrsent witness who saw something *after we separated and ceased to have contact*. Not while we were together. She did not know how to properly file Discovery, and the judge commented on her incompetence (his word) regarding this. I regret ever hiring her. I would have been better off representing myself. I mean, how do you LOSE a divorce case when your client has written confessions of the abuse? Easy: you refuse to present it (or any evidence) to the judge, and threaten to fire your client if she insists. ETA: NOTE the reponse, below. Obviously, LiterateGriffin is a username, not my legal name. I paid a $5,000 retainer for the divorce (no accounting for how it was spent was ever provided). The $750 was not for the divorce, but rather - as clearly stated in my original post - the additional amount she demanded (paid immediately) to act on my behalf during the divorce. Her inability to understand what was originally posted is just another illustration of her gross incompetence.

Extremely rude front desk staff, she couldn’t write my name properly, even though I did spell at least 5 times, she was extremely mean and discriminating, didn’t connect me to the lawyer and finally hang up the phone on me.
