I was only able to sit in on the last day of the trial. It was a tough case. I had never met Fred Goetz before that day. I watched as he cross examined two witnesses. His closing argument was as impressive as it was impeccable. He left no doubt to the decisions of the jury. I don’t know how to adequately express how impressed we were with Fred Goetz. He represented our 29-year-old son in a self-defense case just last week in northwest Minnesota and blew us away with his calm, cool and captive representation. The charges were felonies: Assault-1st Degree-Great Bodily Harm; Murder-2nd Degree-With Intent-Not Premeditated; Assault in the 2nd Degree-Dangerous Weapon-Substantial Bodily Harm, and Stalking-Engages in Stalking. While these charges sound horrendous, once Fred laid out the case to the jurors, Red Lake County didn’t know what hit them. Why the County, as poor as it is, chose to waste its taxpayers’ money on a case that was clearly not winnable is beyond me. Fred easily and effectively exposed the mistakes of law enforcement and witnesses in the case. My favorite “Fred Response” was when he’d say, following testimony by a prosecuting witness who had conveniently “forgotten” key facts, was “Would it refresh your memory…?” Each time I’d hear it, I’d know he was set to score a point for our side! If it hadn’t been my son being accused of the charges, I’d have watched the trial just for Fred’s performance. I didn’t see a single blunder. He was at the top of his game. Now our son is a free man after 2.5 years of hell and looking forward to being a father any day now. We can’t thank Fred enough. He will amaze you with his skills. Thanks, Fred!

Doesn't listen to Potential client cases

Fred Goetz did an amazing job by getting a felon in pos of fire arm case dismissed on An illegal search in blue earth count for me ,also he was able to get a vehicle back that was took during the forfeiture process he explained that the title could be surrendered and they give the car back during forfeiture process on my case. He also got 2 counts of second degree dui amended to a third degree dui Which got a different vehicle released and I did no jail time and was successfully was done with probation In one year both cases were pending at the same time! When your looking at minimum 5 years Inside prison And they have two vehicles in two dif county’s and a year later it’s all over and ur free with both cars back ,u definitely couldn’t have expected a better result! I knew i did nothing wrong and he assured me the law is the law and that search was illegal and it never even made it to trial after putting the arresting officer on the stand I saw Fred n action when contesting the search .HE Thinks fast on feet ! Def 5 start I’d say best in MN

Frederick Goetz was obtained by self to represent my Fiancé who was detained at a federal level and wanting to pursue a trail. Mr Goetz was given permission and incouraged by my fiancé to discuss with me all the legality’s regarding his case. Once my payment was received communication faded. My fiancé could never reach him. The only visits he made to the detention center were for signatures needed on documents. We asked him to review the discovery, investigate inconsistencies that were already highlighted, pursue multiple motions, and inquire about resonable pleas if that was our best option. He only presented us with a plea deal that carried a 5yr mandatory min. He said it was reasonable. I asked him to explain why this was resonable and he had yet to exhaust any of our previous request. His information was solely based off what the prosecution told him. He never explained why but what he did say was “ If we go to trial they can ask for a higher sentence” Under his professional instruction my fiancé accepted the plea. This plea waived all of his rights and stopped all motions from being pursued. Mr Goetz rescheduled sentencing not only once but three times and every time was within less then 24hrs. This resulted in hundreds of dollars lost on flights. At sentencing prosecution brought up issues that we were told were suppressed. When Mr Goetz was asked by the judge had he any objections he stated “No your Honor” and remained quiet the rest of the sentencing. Needless to say that resulted in a 12yr sentence. His service was very inaffective.
