Steer clear! Bad experience with Jon Golas. My partner and I were in agreement on almost all items yet Jon Golas had a Pattern of misrepresenting my wishes in multiple documents saying the opposite or inaccurate information which only made the situation with my husband more volatile. Created tons of extra billing and telephone conversations between his lawyer and mine over the inaccurate info. I was also charged for this inaccurate document without him offering to fix the mistakes. When confronted on the inaccurate information he said I was being critical. I asked to speak with someone in charge but never got a call from his father. He said our relationship was no longer cooperative and that I could pick up my file. Huge bill exceeded my $5000. I’m doing my own divorce agreement from the template on the judicial website for free and it’s accurate and only took me an hour as I am out of my current money.

Mr Golas shows no signs of understanding family law at all. He was very unprofessional, as stated in another review be prepared to be talked over or down to if he does not like something, once another attorney who understood family law very well got involved in the case and told us to definitely fight like we wanted to and not sustain the otc as mr golas suggested we do his attitude became very poor, and it was clear he was too lazy to do his job and did not actualy care about helping us and just wanted the quick easy money without the work. There was no immediate imminent danger to our children witch needed to be proved for dcf to remove them and no matter how many times this was pointed out mr golas stood firm as "the past was enough". As anybody can see the past is just that the past and does not show any immediate imminent danger. Oh and lets not forget when he said "well i just met with dcfs attorneys and theyre good were not going to win this" (shoulda been my que right there this guy is a sham but i had already paid this guy thousands of dollars). Mr golas did nothing to work out the deal that was made and sat in the court room while the other attorney hashed out the entire deal. During the court hearing he said little more than introducing himself. The other attorney representing my gf basicly had to speak up on my behalf. A few days later when asked to send an email on my behalf outlining a few points that were a problem for me he simply fowarded my email. A few days after that incident he decided to call me telling me i should go pay another thousands of dollars on a retainer for another attorney when there was literaly one check in date simply show up make sure everyone is in compliance and the final court date to close the case. It was also at this point he said my retainer that would cover everything as long as it didnt go to trial was burnt up, but never told me by how much and said hed send the bill. Now id understand prep work charges for the case even though it didnt end up going to trial, but i found out much later no his billing was as ridiculous as his poor representation. At the follow up court date to check in to make sure steps were being followed witch they werent on dcfs part, once again the other attorney steps up hashs everything out again and during all this? I didnt even think he was there and planned to apply for a state attorney (witch the judge has to approve so i had to actually get into the court room to do this) when once again he just comes strolling out of the court room after not doind a damn thing. So that court date finishes, but not before hes almost laughed out of the court room. The next and final court date was set the day before a holiday and i have to work a day before and after to get paid for the holiday so i ask the judge hey i gotta support my.family can i be excused judge understands and well hey i have legal representation to be there on my behalf anyway right? Well this guy says oh well since my client is excused can i be too? Oh and since hes not above taking food out of my familys mouth, trying to bill me for every email (didnt even respond to most emails was just ccd on them) phone call and the intial counciltation that he said was free if you need a family lawyer i HIGHLY recommend Jill Alward. It was not attorney golas adv8ce to strike the deal and as stated he did nothing to work that deal out. Had i taken attorney Golas' advice i still wouldnt have my kids back.

Horrible law office. Unprofessional, they speak over you and even hang up on you if they don’t like what you’re asking. Hired by our mortgage company, they’re guaranteed payment so they treat clients like garbage. Stay away!
