Goodness, what a vulnerable and unexpected situation to be in when I was too sick to work anymore. I didn’t know where or how to start and the few steps I did know were overwhelming. Admittedly, I was hesitant to hire any attorney to help me with my case. The staff were wonderful answering my questions and that reassured me to move forward. And, to be clear there was no pressure from Harris to move forward but I made the decision on my own. The process was unbelievably slick with Harris Federal Law. Yes, it’s heavy on the front end with all the paperwork but what I appreciated most was that I felt supported in completing the paperwork and anything that could be completed up front Olivia had me do it. I felt that there were only a handful of things needed after that. And those things typically were from OPM that weren’t available at the beginning. This kept me from being constantly asked to do this or sign that for months. Olivia was great. She was patient and was a huge advocate for me. She was even able to keep progress going with OPM while I was in the hospital for a long stay. Olivia and Harris Federal Law Firm made such a big difference in my family’s life.

Hired a team I thought would be leading my way through the difficult process of getting approval for disability retirement. Turns out I communicated more with OPM, EEO, Director, various Administration officials than my hired team. I would ask my hired team for updates of my status and if they know of anything that may affect my decision outcome. Never felt confident so I would contact various POC on how things were proceeding and I would get told I’m lacking documentation or documentation wasn’t filled out correctly. I corrected the error by simply asking what’s missing, how do I correct it, how do I get the document, and I do I submit it. Realize I was so scared to follow through it on my own that I hired an expensive listening service. They barely listen and they did little for me. I would have loved to feel that I got my money worth on hiring this team but sadly I’m not.

My case manager, Ms. Weitekamp, is a reliable professional who communicates with integrity and punctuality. I am incredibly impressed by her efficiency; a process that was expected to take three months was seamlessly finalized in under four weeks. We are awaiting OPM to review my husband’s application for disability retirement but thus far, Harris Law Firm has made the application portion stress free. I will start off by saying that I was not happy. I did a lot of research prior to hiring Harris because I knew this is a life changing situation. Dealing with my disabilities and documents was something I knew I wouldn't be able to handle. Working with Olivia Manuel changed the trajectory of my FERS application. After my initial denial, she was very precise and calculated in regards to the response according to the FERS law. I did my modeling when she submitted my reconsideration package. Every time I ran my model and simulation according to the Reconsideration Package she submitted it would be above average or better. Today, I received my approval because of her knowledge in the Federal Disability Law precedence. Thank you, Olivia for your work.
