I submitted a brief summary of a potential claim that seems rather cut and dried. Even though I submitted. my narrative of the claim, no one in the firm even bothered to return my inquiry. I have to conclude that Heather simply doesn’t see the economic value to a recovery for this particular injury, even though it is a relatively simple case. It certainly would be worth something; just not millions of dollars, which is what she apparently looks for before even talking to a potential client. This has been a very disappointing experience. Practicing law is a business. I understand that. But I believe that.the lawyer should at least respond to an inquiry and explain personally whether he or she has concluded that a claim has no value to them and why. It’s just good business sense.

Probably best to avoid this attorney unless you think you have a multimillion dollar case otherwise they won't even bother returning your phone call.

Heather Mitchell is a truly exceptional medical malpractice attorney. Her experience as a trained registered nurse brings extensive knowledge and experience which she leverages in her medical malpractice cases with amazing results. Heather approaches her cases with fearlessness, grace, intelligence, strength and authority that is beyond measure. On top of all of that, Heather is an exceptional human being. I just spent the last week working with Heather on a case she is working up for trial. She is beyond amazing. I cannot imagine anyone in her state hiring someone other than her to take their med mal case to trial. Her passion for medical negligence cases and her devotion to her clients is inspiring. I cannot recommend her enough.

I would advise anyone to avoid attempting to retain services from Heather Mitchell Law unless you feel you may have a very large potential financial settlement. I contacted them to speak about a potential claim. Expectations were set that there would likely be follow up the next day. After not receiving follow up, I contacted the office, and I was advised that Heather had reviewed the information I had provided and felt that there wasn’t a financial incentive for her to take on the case based on the factors presented. I asked for clarity and stated that what I understood was that Heather may feel there was a viable claim, but the potential of recovering any monetary settlement that would make it worth her while didn’t exist. The person on the phone (who did not provide their name) advised that my summary was accurate. I stated it was disappointing, because it would appear that Heather is attempting to build clientele, because it appeared to me to be a newer law firm, based on all of the existing reviews, they appeared to be less than a year old. I cannot confirm this is accurate, but I did state that was my perception. I am not upset about Heather’s conclusion, because there are other attorneys that I’ve conferenced with who want to hear more about a potential claim, and I respect that she has every right to pursue cases that align with whatever business strategy she is pursuing but I am upset at, what appears to me to be, a total lack of respect and appreciation for the lives of the people and families she markets to assist unless she’s able to determine there is significant financial incentive for her, especially considering no one at the firm could be bothered to return my call to give me this information themselves. If this is what the intake process looks like, I can only imagine the challenges I would face as an actual client. But, I suppose that is part of the nature of a contingency fee structure. Please do your research and understand that there are plenty of medical malpractice attorneys in our marketplace, and consider very strongly why you’d like to consider them for representation. From my perspective, Heather only wants to represent those potential plaintiffs who she feels she can extract the largest settlements for and disregards the rest and couldn’t even bother with ensuring her personnel follow up after setting expectations. It was a very disappointing experience.
