I reached out to them regarding my accident and how I need a bad faith lawyer. My accident happened in nov 2024, and the response was that due to timing is the only reason they basically won't help. so its not they can't help me they don't want to help me and its crazy because as this is my first accident and trying to track down a personal injury lawyer to be told I need a bad faith and I been calling all place and your saying should have called earlier. I have talked to dozen of people. its disheartening to know im not getting help because of timing.. had I die in my accident timing wouldn't have matter. so I wouldn't recommend them because by the time a person finds out they need a bad faith lawyer it to may be a timing issue. that sucks and should be reviewed. especially because according to the department of ins you have 2-3 years to file for bad faith .. if I could give you less than a star I would

Spoke to the intake person and explained issue. I was suppose to get a call or email. I did not receive either and cannot reach the office.

I received a letter, from the world's largest insurance company, telling me my "claim for waiver of premium" had been denied and insurance coverage terminated. Eight years earlier, I had applied for and been granted a waiver to paying the premiums of my life insurance policy because I was deemed "totally and permanently disabled". It was a provision in my policy but became a burdensome ant mentally exhausting task, when I learned that the insurance company considered "permanent" to be one year. From 2007 until 2015, I had to annually re-certify my condition, to the satisfaction of the insurance company. Little did I know, until I spoke with Aaron Hemmings, the task they were requiring me to perform, along with other actions, was illegal, under North Carolina law. Five years prior to my requesting a waiver of my premiums, I became totally and permanently disabled, as deemed by the Veterans Administration and Social Security. The VA helped me recover, to the point I was able to live with what had become a disability. The unfortunate part was them telling me my condition was likely to be permanent and trying to become employable would worsen my condition and likely result in me requiring assisted-living. Unlike most citizens of North Carolina, I had never been employed in the civilian world and workers compensation did not apply to me. I was assured, by Social Security, that my application would be treated the same as anyone else and my review and tests would be the same. The specialists I saw reached the same conclusion as the VA; being totally and permanently disabled, with no likelihood for recovery. I accepted my condition, which left me with a lot of free time. It wasn't until 2007 I read my policy and discovered there was a provision for waiving my premiums if I became totally disabled. I applied for the benefit and was approved. I was surprised, the next year, when I received the same documents to complete, when I first applied. When I inquired, I was told by the insurance company it was their right, under the policy, to have me annually prove that I was disabled. I thought "what part of total and permanent do they not understand". Under threat that my insurance would be canceled, I had my doctors complete the form and submit it to the insurance company. This became an annual occurrence. I filed a complaint with the NC Department of insurance and was told there was nothing they could do. In January 2016, I received the letter cancelling my insurance. They cited it was their right, under a law called ERISA, which I had never heard. I started contacting attorneys and as soon as I mentioned ERISA, they were not interested in helping me. When I contacted Hemmings and Stevens, Aaron called me and told me he had reviewed my documents and felt my policy was not covered under ERISA and told me he could help. He was upfront and told me that it would be impossible to handle my cases under contingency and I would have to pay for him to represent me but that amount could be paid by the insurance company if we won the case. He told me he hoped it could be resolved without his help. Aaron advised me of the procedure, the costs, and some of the possible outcomes. He did not try to encourage me to do anything and told me to take my time. I started doing a lot of research of the laws governing insurance. I sent a lot of emails asking the company, the State and the Federal government "why". I received a phone call from the insurance company telling me they had made a mistake, were reinstating my policy and renewing my waiver. Wow; I beat the largest insurance company in the world at their own game. Aaron could have easily took my money and helped me file suit but he was more concerned with me getting the best outcome at the least expense to me. I encourage everyone who needs legal help, especially my brother and sisters in the military, to seek his firm's advice. If he can't help you, he will find someone who can!

Aaron Hemmings represented my company in a suit recently involving two other parties. On the day of the court ordered arbitration, there were three attorneys as well as the arbitrator (retired attorney) that were present. I was referred to Aaron Hemmings by my grandmother after researching attorneys to assist me with retrieving my check from Wells Fargo that the bank claimed they could not trace. Mr. Hemmings was the only attorney out of approximately 20 I contacted that was willing to represent me and assist me with getting my money back.
