I wanted, however, to give you an explanation why my firm cannot assist you. When talking with potential clients about their employment issues, we carefully listen for a variety of aspects in determining those cases that we can move forward with. This includes the seriousness of the case, the overall legal viability (i.e., given the specifics of the law, do we think together we can prevail?), the potential for the outcome to make a meaningful difference for our clients, the overall capacity of the firm, and whether we consider ourselves qualified in each specific case. At this point, enough of those thresholds were not met in order for us to move forward. It doesn’t mean you haven’t been treated poorly, nor that you don’t have legal standing - just that we aren’t in a perfect position to represent you at this time. I understand that you’ve spent a significant amount of time talking with us and sharing some difficult and personal issues. I’d encourage you to continue to advocate for yourself and consider talking with some additional employment attorneys who may be more well suited for your specific issue. Updated review: It's been a journey navigating how different law firms work. Our family is happy to report that while HKM is a large outfit with offices across the nation, it doesn't mean they don't hear you. After my original review was posted, they reached out to learn how they could do better, listening to criticism and taking immediate action. Happy to say that we did receive the respect and acknowledgement we were looking for, and even got answers to our legal questions. Lesson learned here is that sometimes the big law firms may have protocols in place that require the clients to be more proactive, but that doesn't mean they don't care. We are satisfied with their ability to pivot and change and, most of all, help people. So yes, we would recommend HKM for your legal challenges that relate to their core areas of expertise. From my original review: Would love to see HKM provide referrals to people whose challenges do not fall within their realm of practice or preferences.

HKM Employment attorneys are competent, very professional and provide excellent service for their clients. They took care of my case like it was their own and made the process so much easier for me. I was always up to do date and couldn’t trust them and their abilities more. If you are looking for pragmatic optimism, experience and want good results I can not recommend them enough.
