I am writing this review much later than I should have, not because the gratitude wasn’t there (it absolutely was and still is), but because the experience itself took time for me and my family to process. My case was never just a legal matter. It involved my faith, my dignity, my honor, and my constitutional rights after I was forced to remove my hijab during the Rutherford County booking process. As a born-and-raised American Muslim woman, this experience deeply impacted me in many ways, not only personally, but as someone who strongly believes in the religious freedoms that our Constitution guarantees to all. I had a terrible situation where a mechanic had done me pretty dirty, dirty enough, where I felt like it was imperative that I protest in front of his shop for several weeks wearing a chicken head mask… it might seem extreme, but if you get the details of the case, it was the only reasonable thing to do. IMO. After many threats, the terrible mechanic decided to sue me for hundreds of thousands of dollars…. Mind you this was a frivolous lawsuit because I had followed every level of law to legally protest on a sidewalk on public property. I had thoroughly reviewed the NAACP rights to protest and had printed off a pamphlet to make sure if I had any issues with the police. I could assure them I was following the law..… several police were called during my protest, all of which were very respectful and understanding of the situation( as they had tried to help me get my vehicle back from the JERK) all in all this group was smart enough to file a anti-slapp lawsuit. (Strategic lawsuit against public participation) It’s taken a little bit of time, but we won the case. DANIEL and his team are an amazing group. I would trust them with anything. Unlike Jonathan Gilbert, the terrible, no good mechanic that was so bad his business had to close down.

Daniel Horwitz defended me from a vicious developer that didn't want the truth told that he was selling high end land for million dollar homes had been mined for well over 100 years. The purchasers of the land had no idea that there are abandoned underground mines and mine spoils from strip mining. I shared published stories about the history of this mining and the developer sued me, trying to crush me financially. I and another resident of my town were sued by 3 aldermen because we shared their mobile numbers online during an opposition movement to a large increase in our property taxes. They sued us for $750,000!!! We went to 5 attorneys that said we would win this frivolous (SLAPP) case but it would cost us $40,000 in legal fees.(They didn’t even know about the SLAPP Law!) Unless you have gone through something like this, you can’t understand how this could affect your and your family’s lives. We were referred to Daniel Horwitz by a friend that is an attorney. I found myself in a peculiar situation with a man I had matched with on a dating app who attempted to sue me for defamation and was a total SLAPP suit back in 2020. Daniel was by far the only attorney I spoke with who gave me any confidence in defense case. The 10 weeks this case was open was one of the most stressful times in my life and Daniel was extremely patient and willing to explain every step in detail to me. SLAPP suits can take years and Daniel had my case closed in 10 weeks; my lawsuit was dismissed with prejudice and was at the time (could still be) the largest anti-SLAPP fee and sanction award ever issued in Tennessee being entered by agreement.
