I would suggest if you are looking for a good efficient closing attorney, look else where. Maybe he was just having a bad season or something, but that is defiantly not how I have ever done business when purchasing any home with any closing attorney. Mr. Cooper did not remember to mail the sellers check to the county to pay the property tax for my property purchased back in November. It is now March and I am just learning that the county never received the check and Mr. Coopers office never even knew the check didn't clear. So a stop order has just been placed. In the meantime the property taxes are accruing interest and Mr. Cooper is under the impression that those fees will just go away once they send the check (Wrong! I will be responsible for those fees because of their negligence). I also asked Mr. Cooper for a Copy of my Deed and he proceeded to bagger me in to telling him why I left a poor review before he would send me a copy of my Deed. I eventually ended the call, by hanging up on him and deleted my previous comment just so he would release the copy of my deed to me.
Ms. Laurie, while we appreciate your review, it is not accurate. Your Deed was recorded on November 28, 2022. Once the county processes the original Deed it is returned to our office. We then issue the owner's policy and send both items to you. That takes some time. There is no need for you to take your deed to the county as it is already of record there and the Treasurer already has you on record as the new owner. Our office also mailed a check to the Treasurer for payment of the taxes as we have done for hundreds of other closings. This check has not yet cleared our escrow account. I spoke to the Treasurer to confirm they had no record of receipt so that I can place a stop payment on that check and reissue it. When you spoke to Mr. Cooper he did not have your file in front of him so he thought the taxes were collected in your escrows and forwarded to your mortgage company for them to pay. He did not realize that they had been collected from the seller at closing. We apologize for any possible inconvenience and hope your issues are resolved.
