I contacted J.D. Silva & Associates after being involved in a hit-and-run accident. The intake specialist took my information over the phone, then sent me a contract to sign electronically. Before signing, I asked if I could come into the office to meet with an attorney to make sure the firm would be the right fit for me. The intake specialist gave me a timeframe when an attorney would be available. Upon arrival she had the contract ready so I could it sign on the spot. When the attorney came in, my first question was whether he had reviewed my case. His answer was unapologetically “No.” When I asked why, he said that I had not signed the contract yet. I expressed that I was disappointed he had not at least been briefly familiar with my situation before the meeting, since I had taken the time to come in with questions after a hit-and-run accident. The attorney's tone quickly became adversarial. He told me that based on my tone we were starting off on the wrong foot and suggested that we would not be a good fit. At that point, I agreed, and the meeting ended. I’m glad I asked to meet with the attorney before signing the contract because it confirmed that JD Silva was not the right fit for me because of the attorney’s smug attitude and lack of empathy for what I had just experienced. He felt perfectly justified walking into a meeting with a potential client not knowing anything about my case, which would explain his lack of empathy. After an accident, people are often looking for professionalism, preparation, and empathy. Unfortunately, I did not receive either of those from JD Silva’s attorney.
