Jackson & MacNichol

When I started out with Jackson and MacNichol I had a male lawyer who really cared about my case. He is a veteran himself and he checked in with me regularly and if I called he took my calls, I never had to wait for him to call me back. He replied promptly to my emails too. He got me 50 percent for service connection (which was three months after the hearing) which honestly I was not expecting anything at that point because this has been an upward battle since 2000. Then this lawyer left Jackson and MacNichol. I asked him to take my other cases with him but he said he couldn't. I ended up with a new lawyer (Tiffany Koustis) with lead attorney (Alexandra Jackson) This lawyer has done the bare minimum for my other cases. Her written closing argument repeated the same points over and over again like a dead horse, she cited no case law for the judge to reference and left out names of VA doctors who stated in writing that my conditions are service connected. She also left out dates/times of events. After I read the closing argument I sent an email to the law firm. It has now been 9 months since this last hearing and the judge has not come back with a ruling. So now Ms. Tiffany Koustis decided to send the Judge yet a second closing argument 8 months after her disasterous first one. The second closing argument cited case law but still didn't give dates/times and didn't include VA doctors who agree my conditions are service connected. I'm sure the judge is thinking that this law firm doesn't take him seriously at this point and by now he has forgotten everything in the case files and what I said during the hearing. Long story short I regret staying with Jackson and MacNichol. I should have forced them to give my case to the Veteran lawyer that left them. I want to make clear that I provided Jackson and MacNichol with letters from three doctors two are VA doctors one is a specialist from Tampa General who stated my conditions are service connected. Lastly the judge in my last case ruled in my favor and went further in writing in her decision letter that these other conditions are also service connected. Yet here we are 9 months after my hearing and have no decision.

I am very excited that I chose this Law Firm to help me with my compensation from the VA. This firm is extremely knowledgeable with the Veterans Affairs appeals process. They took me from 20% to 80% in less than 5 months and when I call them they always answer the phone if not they get back to me in a timely matter. I recommend Jackson and MacNichol very highly, they are the best!!!

Worst experience ever all they did was file my claim I had a veteran nonprofit help me with everything and when I did call the staff was rude don't use this service ever they took 30 percent and did not work thank for nothing veterans beware

It took from 2008 until 2013 for me to receive any compensation and then it was just 10%. The staff turnover is crazy. The employees seem angry and they let you know just how unimportant you are. Terrible experience. Don't use them. I don't believe that high star review rate. It really was a nightmare dealing with this company.

For over 9 years now I’ve been waiting for my inherent rights as a disabled veteran and Jackson&MacNichol have repeatedly told me to be patient about my 100% disability appeal! But all that’s happened is more waiting for something to happen, but the only thing that has happened is asking for new forms to be filled out, over and over and over again. As of September 27 2025 it’s been 9 years going nowhere and I’ve repeatedly asked the Attorneys to contact the office of The Inspector General to demand that the VA act on the Order Of Judge Doolittle that he remanded my case back to the Veterans Administration to correct their mistakes in my records which indicated that I am 100% disabled. That was over 3 years ago and still nothing has been done about this matter by my attorneys at Jackson&MacNichol, then over 3 years ago the VA granted my current wife as my dependent and indicated that payment would be processed, but nothing was processed and now a person I’ve never heard of at Jackson&MacNichol; Jennifer Contreras, reached out to my email wanting more details about previous marriage which I supplied over 3 years ago. In the last month I’ve sent more messages to my Attorney Devin Sorkin and Andrea Jackson without any response from either of them! Additionally I’ve sent messages to the Attorney representative Megan Potter for over two weeks now and no response either! What sort of Legal Representation is this supposed to represent for any disabled Veteran? I’m just supposed to continue being patient with repeatedly filling out new forms and getting them more information from doctors and hospitals and historical records? Who’s working for me, besides myself? I’ve actually begged for help when I was homeless and living in my car and no one did anything about it only filled out another form and afterwards they didn’t pursue anything else to help me. This continued neglect has led to such deep depression and emotional distress that I’ve attempted suicide several times in these 9 years of waiting for someone at Jackson&MacNichol to do something other than telling me to be patient? In those 9 years Jackson&MacNichol I have supplied the attorneys with over 1300 pages of documents and evidence and met with several professional doctors who have also provided evidence of my 100% disability! But still nothing has been done by the attorneys at Jackson&MacNichol! All I see is Nothing being done and only promises and promises and promises and asked to be patient? Where does patience run out and neglect come in by the attorneys who are supposed to be responsible and representing me as a Disabled Marine Corps Veteran since 1972 over 53 years ago! I’ve lost all hope and faith in my attorneys and now I’m just waiting to die and preparing for my cemetery plot and funeral plans. Since I’ve had 2 heart attacks and an Aortic Valve replacement and several minor strokes as well as multiple seizures from my injuries in the Marine Corps, with several serious seizures being near death seizures! But who cares about it or my life and my family at Jackson&MacNichol? NO ONE!Additionally, Devin Sorkin and Andrea Jackson were negligent with my documents medical records that I’d sent them over the past 9 years. I’d requested them to file my Cervical Spinal Stenosis associated The diagnosis of spinal stenosis and Epileptic seizures with my Cervical Spine injuries in the Marine Corps in 1972. I submitted documentation and medical records for over 6 years concerning my Diagnosis from medical Neurologist and treatments at multiple Veterans Medical Centers and hospitals which they failed to provide and failed to do. Over 9 years of waiting for them to do as they were supposed to as legal representation for my veterans disability and they did nothing. And recently Devin Sorkin just dumped my case without saying anything to me or advising me who’s supposed to be representing me. There are a few good attorneys at Jackson&MacNichol, but Devin Sorkin and Andrea Jackson are not included as good attorneys for their failure in professional representation .
