Been my attorney for years he's straight to the point and stands on fairness despite what others may say. I haven't had a bad experience with him every since he's been my family lawyer for years.

I hired this firm for a CDL related traffic ticket, and unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. There was a clear lack of professionalism, poor communication, and what seemed like a lack of experience handling CDL cases. Despite having a clean record and a relatively simple case (according to others with legal knowledge), they failed to get the ticket dismissed. I’m not even sure if the attorney properly appeared in court or just accepted the charge via email. This outcome is now likely to impact my insurance rates significantly. I truly expected better. If you’re dealing with a traffic ticket, especially a CDL case, I strongly recommend finding a more competent and reliable lawyer. I would not recommend this firm based on my experience

I hired this lawyer to help get my traffic violation dismissed. After just the first court date, he emailed me saying, “You were found guilty.” Seriously? If I wanted to hear that, I wouldn’t have paid $650 for legal help. Most lawyers I’ve seen reschedule court dates to improve the chances of dismissal—like waiting until the officer doesn’t show up. But he didn’t even try. Just showed up once and gave up. Completely disappointed. I expected real representation, not someone to just repeat what the judge said.

I sent him the consultation fee and asked him to get records for me. The next thing I received was an Order dismissing my case! Such gratitude for a wonderful and speedy resolution. Great results! I would hire him again if need be!

I saw Mr. Calmes (CAL-meez) in action in Family Court recently and was very impressed. Gentle manner in cross-examination, but bringing out important information.

This is a terrible firm. They are only about harassing people and taking large amounts of money for breaking families up. This firm and others like should be disbarred. Formal complaints have been set in to the SC Bar Association.

I engaged the services of James Calmes to complete a legal matter. When complications occurred, his fee tripled over the initial amount that he had quoted. When I asked for the work that had been performed and that I had already paid for, he and his office did not respond to calls, emails or a registered letter to comply with this request. I wanted to present the information to another attorney to get their opinion and it was information that I had paid him to research and compile. I was unable to do this. I had to terminate the services of James Calmes and hire another attorney without receiving the information that I had paid for months before. Bottom line – I hired a different attorney that charged me less than half of what James Calmes had quoted to complete the job. LIFE IS TOO SHORT to deal with someone like James Calmes. Go elsewhere.
