I went to Dowden, Worley, Jewell, & Olswing PLLC for a child custody and support matter and was assigned to attorney Kevin Cavender. At first, things started off fine, but then his efforts changed drastically. There was a period where Mr. Cavender went completely missing for 3–4 weeks, which forced my case to be rescheduled. During that time, I was calling, emailing him, and even reaching out to the firm with no real response. I eventually showed up at the office in person, only to be told they hadn’t heard from him either. At that point, I was frustrated not only with him but also with the firm—because at the very least, they should have informed me instead of leaving me in the dark. When he finally resurfaced, he apologized and claimed he was sick. That could have been communicated by him, his assistant, or the firm, but it wasn’t. After that, his work became inconsistent and lazy. He even suggested I leave the firm and continue with him privately, which was clearly a terrible idea. Not long after, I was told he was dropped from the firm for not completing his continuing education hours. As a result, the firm then dropped me as a client and withdrew from representing me—after I had already spent thousands of dollars with no resolution. This entire experience was unprofessional, stressful, and costly. Do not use this firm and do not recommend them.

Do not use Kevin Cavender. After you pay him he will quit replying to your emails without finishing your case.

Theresa Childress lied to me and promised to do things that she never did. Once she realized that she was losing she quit my case without a valid reason and left me without representation 10 days before mediation. She recorded our conversation without my knowledge and refuses to give me a copy of it until I threatened to report her to the Board of Professional Responsibilities - which I am still going to do. She charged me a lot of money (nearly $10k) and I’m still not divorced yet! She bragged about how much smarter she was than opposing counsel and how she often had won against her previously in cases. I didn’t see her to be very smart at all! She was late to hearings, unprepared and was advised that her motions had to be rewritten due to errors. She claimed she couldn’t get a favorable judgment in court because the judge didn’t like me!!!!! She did absolutely nothing to help me.

Chad Reeves is a morally and spiritually bankrupt individual who will resort to any underhanded tactic he can get his grubby hands on for the sake of a buck. Lawyers are generally greasy snakes, but this guy has represented my ex wife for years, doing anything and everything possible to prevent any semblance of a healthy relationship between me and my son. Instead of trying to facilitate a healthy scenario between me and my ex, he's made it one of his pursuits to ruin my life. I don't know how these people go to sleep at night (perhaps sociopathy). They've taken advantage of a fundamentally corrupt system to throw the most ridiculous torments at me. Apathy, dishonesty, shamelessness- defining traits of this firm. Deal with them if you have no regard for your immortal soul.

Chad Reeves is the best! He is an honorable man who kept me grounded throughout my divorce. If you are looking for someone who will talk sense into you when you need it, he is your guy. Chad stays above the fray and will focus on things that matter and talk you out of the things that don’t. This for sure saved me a ton of money and in the end, I landed in a position I thought I could have only dreamed of. Thank you Chad. I would recommend you to anyone.

Scott Taylor is a terrible attorney who doesn’t care if he loses the case for his clients because he’ll then sell you on appealing the ruling. He may or may not ghost you along the process like he did me as well. Reported to the Tennessee Bar association, he was THAT bad. I will be checking if this review is taken down.

Need info to get my mom thru probate. They were friendly and new how to explain what needs to be done.
