I visited John Jowdy for a consultation over a year ago, and I have been hesitating to leave this comment. But, I think this is important to share. I had looked up Jowdy & Jowdy law firm on Google, and saw the great reviews. Plus, I thought the Jowdy last name in the Danbury area was reputable, respected and could be trusted. During the consult, I told Mr. Jowdy that I needed legal help and I was ready to pay $$ for a retainer. I was afraid, confused, and completely overwhelmed with my situation that included my abusive ex husband. I ended the session asking him what his issue was - he was short with me and seemingly annoyed / frustrated the entire time. He told me that he was “old,” and didn’t have time for this (my situation that I was consulting him for.) So, why did John Jowdy agree to a consultation with me anyway? I think he may have been surprised by my questioning his inappropriate reactions to me, because he called me back the next morning to follow up. But, on the phone, he continued with his abrasive attitude toward me. He kept repeatedly asking me if I sent him the email I said I would, and I kept saying yes. (In hindsight, I realize that the file I sent him may have been way too large, and was clogged up somewhere in the cloud, maybe? I still don’t know, but the email was sent…) I stopped him immediately. I asked him if this is how he treats any potential client, or was it because I was a woman? His attitude was dripping with disdain and misogyny. His line of questioning was if he thought I was stupid. He actually began speaking really slowly, and very condescending- like, as if I didn’t understand what email was, or how to send an email? I’ll never forget this extremely shocking and disappointing interaction with John Jowdy.

I entrusted the Jowdy law firm with the most important case of my life, that being straightening out custody, visitation etc with my son. John was efficient, focused, caring but determined, and most of all effective in litigating my case. My case had some unique facets and some surprises, John took it in stride without a moments judgement. I can’t thank him enough for his work. Highly recommend and thanks again.

At the beginning, I did not see any light at the end of the tunnel for my legal issues. Enter Jeff, who masterfully led me through all legal proceedings, gave me invaluable advice, and never made me feel like I was just a paycheck to him. He was on time, knew the right actions to take legally, and most importantly, he is a well known face in the local legal community. His familiarity with the courts is a major advantage because you will not be seen as a stranger with Jeff by your side. He was able to give me back my normal life.
