If I could give less than a one star I would. Melissa isn't worth the pot to piss in. She did everything she could to try and get me to agree with the other party when it came to going to mediation. She disregared all requests I asked for. The late repsonses from the other party should have been dismissed but her excuse was "well it was close enough". Im sorry what? The paperwork said 21 days not 21+ days. And at no point did she care to see anything I had even if it couldnt be used she could have at least looked at what I had but chose not too but I also know I had stuff that proved my side of things on my part only but still didnt make the effort to look at it. She tried telling me she could speak on topics like my kids schedule, etc like all kids situations are the same. After she filed to represent me her first actions were to call the other party and it seemed since then she didn't care to fight for me. It was more and more like I was paying her to represent them. I went to mediation with everything I was trying to get her to fight for me that she hesitated on wanting to bring to the table and I actually got it without the other party fighting back and without her. Shocker... i also worked with the therapist i found to come on with a resonable approach to being brought back into my childs life i also showed her what meslissa came up with so she had something to reference from... the therapist looked at me rolled her eyes and stated "did she come up with this?" "Its not even detailed" the therapists words not mine... that said a lot to me about melissa's experience in family law as well. Given she told me to find a therapist, I did but she was to concerned about how far it was for the other party. Sorry living in BFE you dont have much for options. And 2 she wanted me to go to their (the other party's) therapist they picked who couldnt be ordered to go to court if need be, yea thats not a scetching situation to try and put me in. She also pushed really hard for virtual therapy which is what the other party wanted as well, disregarding my major concerns over that situation. She made it seem like that was the best and only option given where me and the other party live. when I got to the point I was tired of hearing her say "well I don't think they..." this or that she all of a sudden had concerns about me not responding to her. But when I confronted her back about all the concerns I had from the time I hired her she didn't hesitate to remove herself from representing me. Saying we have "inconceivable differences" well she wasnt wrong about that but Hummm seems suspicious to me based off her continued actions... and after consulting another attorney there was steps she could have taken that I asked her to but didn't. I highly suggest if your case is complicated you find someone else. She could have done more but chose to not lift a finger as much as possible. And no excuse on her approach to my case will change my mind. There was way to many red flags from her during the short useless time she represented me...
