Julie goes above and beyond to meet her clients’ needs. She is a true advocate and really gets to know her clients, their stories, and their goals. Julie uses her negotiating skills, personal knowledge of her cases, and creative thinking to get the best results for her clients. She is ready to go to battle, and is personally invested in seeing her cases through to a successful end. As a colleague in the legal industry, I highly recommend choosing Julie for your personal injury needs.

Response from owner

Thank you Halley! I could not agree more. Julie’s fantastic and I wouldn’t hesitate to hire her to represent anyone in my family.

Everyone at the Kitchen Firm demonstrated a high level of professionalism throughout my experience. They carefully guided me and my son through each step of the process, taking the time to clarify any concerns I raised about the procedures or timelines. They were readily available whenever I needed further explanation, showing understanding of my health condition resulting from the accident, which sometimes affected my ability to process information quickly. Additionally, they coordinated efficiently with my son to gather all the required paperwork, including insurance forms and medical records. Julie worked diligently from the initial consultation through to the resolution of my case, ensuring I fully understood each phase and felt supported throughout the entire process.

Response from owner

This is so kind! I’m so glad you had a good experience and especially that we were able to do a good job for your son. ❤️

I love how committed Allyson is to the Capitol Hill community, particularly as the sponsor of the Capitol Hill Classic. The Classic is DC's biggest 10K and it is the biggest fundraiser and community event for the Capitol Hill Cluster School - a DC public school. Allyson has been a participant and volunteer for over a decade! She is personally and professionally committed to a safe, healthy, and thriving Capitol Hill Community.

Response from owner

Thank you, Zach! I love the Cluster School and it’s an honor to support the Classic!

On an October evening in 2023 while commuting home from work on my bicycle, I was struck by a negligent driver. Though I had flashing lights on my handlebars and was in a designated bike lane, the driver failed to see me and negligently turned into my path of travel to enter an alley. After colliding with their car's passenger side mirror and flipping across the hood of their car, I went to an emergency room where I was found to have broken bones in my right hand that would require surgery and had fractured my left wrist, in addition to other injuries. The police had taken statements from the driver, his passenger, and me and ultimately determined that fault would not be assigned. Recovering from my injuries, I decided to seek legal representation. My first inclination was to go with one of the big firms, thinking that their large staff and well-advertised expertise would be to my benefit (their website touts the millions that their award-winning lawyers have won). After meeting with them to describe the circumstances, the firm sent me a retainer to sign, telling me that they were honored to be my advocate. A few weeks later they emailed me to tell me that they would no longer represent me, stating that after reviewing the case they had determined that they would not be able to obtain a reasonable settlement or jury verdict in my favor because I was travelling in a “shared bicycle lane” as opposed to a “dedicated bicycle lane.” Prior to signing on with that bigger firm, I had spoken with Allyson Kitchel at Kitchel Law, which is a smaller practice. I was impressed by how much Allyson seemed concerned for my well-being and how passionate she was regarding bicycle related injuries. But in my pain-induced condition and hoping that a bigger firm would have the resources and experience to quickly help me get compensation, I had gone with them instead of Kitchel Law. After receiving their second email, I went back to Allyson and she took my case with confidence that she could demonstrate that the driver was at fault and that I deserved compensation for my injuries, expenses, and lost time from work. Unfazed by the distinctions between "shared" and "designated," Allyson insisted that I had done nothing wrong and that the driver's negligence was the cause of the collision. During the first months of my recovery, Allyson's team reached out several times to check on me. Offering sympathetic ears and encouraging words, they built trust and made me feel like my case mattered to them. Allyson was personally involved in many of the conversations we had as the firm sought to learn more about the facts, advised me of what they were finding from their investigations, and inquired about my healing process. As time went on, I got to know other members of Allyson's team and was impressed that they were as patient, informed, and confident as she was. The driver, it so happened, was working at the time, which introduced complicated overlays to the case and a new set of attorneys set on protecting the employer. Time passed and Kitchel Law kept me updated regularly about any progress, or lack thereof, at regular intervals. As my patience and enthusiasm waned, Kitchel Law remained steadfast that our case was winnable, even if it meant transitioning from mediation to filing suit. Two years and four months after retaining Allyson's team, they were proven right and my case was settled outside of court in our favor. Kitchel Law understood my case well and put their vehemence for protecting cyclists to work for my interests. I learned that bigger is not better when it comes to personal care and protections and I am proud to endorse Allyson Kitchel's firm. I would proffer Kitchel Law to anyone who has been wrongfully injured and I would especially recommend her for bicyclists because she has a broad depth of legal understanding and a fiery passion for protecting cyclists from negligent drivers. She's also hilarious and she, and her team, made me feel that I was empowered in a situation where I felt hopeless.

Response from owner

Wow. This is going on our Hall of Fame for reviews. Thank you!! I was shocked that the bigger firm didn’t think you had a case. We were so glad to represent you and thank you for trusting us! (I will also let my kids know that I am, in fact, hilarious.)

I had a consultation with Allyson regarding a potential medical malpractice case. Although there wasn’t enough evidence to move forward, she was thoughtful, responsive, and very honest throughout the process. I felt heard and respected, which meant a lot given how difficult the situation was to revisit. I really appreciated her time and professionalism.

Response from owner

JJ-making sure people are heard is more important to me than any successful case resolution. You were such a pleasure and I hope you never need us again.!

Was in a motorcycle accident and in the hospital for a month recovering. Met Allyson and this firm very early on with lots of questions and a few uncertainties about what’s to come. Over the next few weeks I was updated regularly about steps being taken or things I needed to do to help. Finally as I started to get myself on track the titanium rod in my leg snapped, causing my femur to rebreak and 2 more surgeries. I was immediately checked in on and regularly check in on, truly showing how much they cared, which I really appreciated. Life changes at its own pace, a firm like this by my side truly made this process so much less stressful and provided so much clarity throughout.

Response from owner

Andre, if it wasn’t for bad luck, you would’ve had no luck at all. I’m so glad you’re better and I’m so glad we were able to be there for you.:)

Allyson and Julie are an exceptional team-- their acumen, attention to detail, and results on complex cases are bordering on unmatched in the DC and Northern Virginia area. I also work in the plaintiff's personal injury field, and regularly refer work to Julie Edwards. Recently, I have had the pleasure of getting to associate on a case with her involving a wrongful death resulting from an motor vehicle accident. Working with Julie has given me an opportunity to see Julie's case management skills up close. She is tenacious, but a soft landing spot for her clients and their loved ones. If you are looking for someone who will wage a war on your behalf while still remembering to ask how your toddler's birthday party went Julie should be your call.

Response from owner

I can’t imagine a more apt description of Julie than this. I’m glad you love her as much as we do.

As a longtime personal injury lawyer, mostly for the defense, l know the really good ones on the other side - those who work smart and fiercely to get full, fair, just compensation, especially for clients who have suffered the most serious injuries. I’ll keep it simple: Allyson is the best-of-the-best.

Response from owner

Thanks Nick!

I had the chance to work with Kristeen and was really impressed by her professionalism and attention to detail. She stays organized, communicates clearly, and handles everything with a calm, confident approach. What stood out most was how proactive she is. She keeps things on track, anticipates needs before they become issues, and makes sure deadlines and documents are handled smoothly. She also takes the time to explain things in a way that’s easy to understand, which shows she genuinely cares about the people she’s helping. Reliable, efficient, and easy to work with — I’d highly recommend her to anyone needing paralegal support.

Response from owner

Hi Anthony! I could not have said this better myself. Our clients are so lucky to have her!

With decades of litigation experience under her belt, she knows the law, the players, and the strategies to get results.
