I was referred to David Brantz at Kottke & Brantz, LLC by Charles Schwab. David was excellent - really dumbed down very complex estate planning rules into understandable concepts. I was told from many I needed a trust - David was super candid and walked me through the pros/cons of a trust and recommended otherwise. David was also very reasonably priced relative to competitors. For this subject you really want to have a trusted advisor in your camp and David is that person for me.

I hired David to draft a premarital agreement and found the experience deeply disappointing and shockingly unprofessional. From our early conversations, he approached me with a paternalistic, combative tone — less interested in helping me meet my goals than in enforcing a rigid “process” on his terms. He repeatedly implied I didn’t understand what I was asking for, openly criticized me for discussing the agreement with my fiancée, and claimed that no other competent attorney would agree to our timeline. That turned out to be completely untrue. Both my fiancée’s attorney and the attorney I ultimately hired were not only comfortable with the timeline, but also took a far more collaborative and respectful approach — encouraging open dialogue about our shared goals. David ultimately quit — but not before sending a series of passive-aggressive emails and repeatedly undermining my judgment. If you’re looking for a lawyer who listens, collaborates, and treats you like an adult, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere.
