Our firm was retained by Ms. Serrano approximately two and a half months after her accident. She had initially retained another firm but sought our counsel due to dissatisfaction with their services.<br><br>Following our retention, Ms. Serrano received medical treatment that ultimately led to a policy limits settlement from both the third party and her first-party coverage. At no point did our office receive any complaints from Ms. Serrano, nor did she express any dissatisfaction with how her case was handled or our client service. On the contrary, she conveyed appreciation for the medical treatment she received, which alleviated her symptoms, and for the swift resolution of her case for the maximum possible amount.<br><br>However, after the case settled, Ms. Serrano's daughter and her partner, Mia Casmier-Paz, an attorney practicing in Washington D.C. with Paz Law Firm PC, contacted us demanding a drastic reduction in our fees. Our office was suddenly accused of not performing tasks, providing unnecessary treatment to Ms. Serrano, and other unfounded complaints. We explained to both that their concerns should be addressed with the first law firm Ms. Serrano initially retained, but they disregarded this information. Instead, attorney Casmier-Paz threatened a State Bar complaint if we did not comply with their demands to accept a minimal fee for the work performed on Ms. Serrano's behalf. Consequently, our office filed a State Bar Complaint in Washington D.C. against Ms. Casmier-Paz and Paz Law Firm, PC, for their unconscionable and unethical actions.<br><br>We vehemently deny all complaints raised in the State Bar Complaint, as they are untrue and solely an attempt to extort our firm.<br><br>These actions by Ms. Casmier-Paz and Ms. Serrano's daughter are unfortunate but will be countered to the full extent of the law
