Mr. Torres. I am sorry that you feel this way. We always strive to do the very best and excellent in every case. Family cases are often very stressful for those involved and it certainly was for you. In your case, it changed, from what it was in the beginning and there had been multiple filings, involving you. The receptionist who answers the phone is not a paralegal or an attorney and knows very little about the details of individual cases, it is the receptionist that schedules a phone call or an appointment to consult in person, because sometimes that is the best way, to communicate. We consulted with you, multiple times on the phone and in person. Many of those consultations were scheduled and others were, when you came in without an appointment and we tried to accommodate you and repeat what we were doing, the strategy and what we were hoping to achieve. We had a strategy to go forward. We consulted with you, you would understand the method and strategy at the the time, then you would change your mind on how to do things, frequently, which frustrates the ability of an attorney to achieve “effective communication”. Given the multiple filings in your case(s) we needed to respond with other actions which required different contracts for different legal actions, which you declined and our representation remained with the first single filing. Ultimately, you decided that it was not the way you wanted to go, we respect that and understand that sometimes attorneys and clients do not see eye to eye. When there is a lack of effective communication and a lack of cooperation from the Client in going forward, especially, with other, different cases coming forward, sometimes the best solution is for the attorney to withdraw, given that the Client can choose for themselves on how to move forward and a chance to consult with other legal counsel as they see fit and appropriate. Good evening. I have spoken to you once. I was contracted by your Mother. She was very fortunate to have been allowed to return to the U.S., given her record. The Federal Government at that time was a different one and she was not detained upon her re-entry. The case she hired the firm for, was a Non-Detained Case. We made multiple court filings on her behalf, which included Potential Relief with hundreds of pages of evidence. We, also made multiple appearances with her in Court, as per our agreement. Under a new Federal Government, they decided to detain her. This changes her case to a Detained Case, not a Non-Detained Case in a different jurisdiction/court and a different judge. Besides yourself, I spoke to your sister multiple times, as well. With anything, if there is a change in the scope of representation or conditions to a case or job, there is a change in contract and price. I explained this to both you and your sister. It is like a mechanic that you hired to fix a part on your car, then later on, a different part does not work, a diagnosis is needed and a price is quoted and one chooses to go ahead or not to do it. I explained this to your Mother of two different occasions. I presented some different options to your sister/which I also explained to your Mother-given the new filings, jurisdiction and judge, including the new Court Date. Your sister did not follow through on keeping her appointments and there was a loss of cooperation and communication as I was primarily working with her, since your Mother is detained. Sometimes lawyers and clients/potential clients and/or family do not see eye to eye. I wish you are her the best in your future endeavors.
