My experience with Vivian Ann Mejia was not good. I was told that she was the best in Stanislaus County when it comes to mitigating DUIs. And yes, I truly believe that she may be an intelligent woman and an expert at what she does. However, there were a few things that made uncomfortable: 1) She seems to be very inundated with her caseloads, which is completely understandable. However, if this is the case, then she should have been honest and simply stated that she is unable to take on my DUI case. And I could have taken my business elsewhere to an attorney who is more attentive. I say that because there were several times where she promised to return my phone calls, text-messages, or emails, and did not follow through on her word to do so. In turn, I felt the need to stay on top of her (more than probably should be) in order to make sure that she was on point in handling my case. Poor Communication style. 2) When I finally had an opportunity to meet with Vivian at her office, I wanted to converse with her on some things regarding my DUI case. In addition, I wanted to actually witness her style in person to fully gage her suitability for me. However, she seemed to be in a rush to leave the office. Yes, she set me up at one of her computers so I can review my traffic stop footage on my own, but again, she was not attentive. At this point I determined that this client-attorney relationship may not be good for me to continue. Again, I understand full schedules and been busy, but it was not a good way to start off a client-attorney relationship, especially when meeting in-person for the first time. First impression was not the best. 3) There were no written 'Terms & Conditions' for me to review in regard to how/ if I would be charged continuously for frequent communication. Unfortunately, I did not find this out until after I terminated Vivian's services. At this point, I was informed that she would initiate an itemization process toward an issued refund. Long story short, out of the $3,000 I paid out to her, only $159.00 was refunded. Considering that she did not step foot into any court setting on my behalf, this refund was beyond unreasonable. Aside from a 10 to 15 minute DMV hearing (via phone call), she did not perform any other significant work on my behalf that would be deserving of $3,000. No clarity. Overall, since I just so happen to be an understanding and empathetic individual, I will exercise basic grace for what she lacked with me. As far the money that I lost, I am trusting that she will correct this issue, hopefully sooner than later. Other than that, I feel that "2 stars" should be fair at this time.

Vivian was great! She did everything she said she would, and communicate through it all. She was able to get the charges dropped with only having to take a short class. Her rates were reasonable and she let me make it into 2 payments. She is great with working with you in order to get great legal help. Thank you for all your help.

The truth is I had a very bad experience with the lawyer. She advertises in the Mexican flea market and she made me wait a long time. She didn't want to take my case. It would have been better if she had told me and her secretaries were making fun of me because I was sitting there waiting. The truth is the lawyer behaved very racist and discriminated against me very badly. It's better if she didn't advertise in places where most Mexicans go.
