How do you express your heartfelt gratitude to people who are doing what they love to do...living their passion of making the lives of others better than they were before they came into their office? My attempt to do just that is here. It's called an 'accident' because it is something the other person did not intend to do on purpose. It is called insurance, because things happen beyond our control and it is meant to be there to help us in those times. I have been the victim in 3 car accidents over the past 7 years. I had a kind, older attorney who helped resolve the first two and I learned much through those experiences. First, as a victim who has been injured, there is so much to do to prepare to address the battle of insurance.I had to gather my entire medical history. A challenging feat when you are not feeling well and are in great pain and have difficulty moving, sleeping, driving, and more. Despite that, you have to work, deal with everyday life stressors as well as the threats and delays that accompany the process. If you are like me, you also have to get comfortable with the unfamiliarity of attorneys offices. Fortunately, attorneys who work to help those of us who are injured seem to have the compassion of the best healers. To get through it all, I chose to see the opportunity to learn a great deal about life and the how-to's that are required to make it through the legal processes, my health improvement, and getting my life back on course. My last accident (similar to my first) happened when I was sitting still in traffic. A road was being fixed and we had to move to one lane from 3. A large truck was not being allowed to move over so I stopped to let him in. A car on the other side of him scared him and he inadvertently turned and hit 'me' - my car. When they 'totaled my car', I felt doubly victimized. I have a SUPER chiropractor who has helped me heal and so I immediately saw him and he immediately began to help me repair my body- again. The insurance company reviewed the accident and made a small offer. I had no idea that it was negotiable. It WAS and THAT is where the Law Offices of K. Douglas Cook and specifically, Steven A.
