They worked very hard on my case, kept me updated with great communication, and made the entire settlement process much less stressful. BEWARE!!! This Is a Predatory “Law Firm” Built on Extracting Consultation Fees This operation is not a tenant defense law firm, it’s a consultation fee mill that preys on people in crisis. The consultation fee is the real product here, not legal representation. I contacted them for help with an unlawful detainer involving my senior parents. From the moment the phone was answered, the red flags were obvious. Cesar, the intake guy, talks to you as if he’s the attorney, confidently promising victories and “strong defenses” before anyone has even reviewed a single document. He immediately pushed the $250 consultation fee and a $2,500 retainer, assuring me the consultation would be applied toward representation. I uploaded all documents as instructed, including serious defenses like: • A city citation against the landlord for habitability violations • Fraudulent inducement • Unlicensed individuals executing the lease • Multiple safety and habitability issues When the actual attorney finally called (late), he hadn’t reviewed anything. Not the documents. Not the defenses. Not the city citation. Nothing. His entire “analysis” was a blanket statement that my parents would lose because “a judge wouldn’t even consider” their defenses. No explanation. No strategy. No effort. Then came the real punchline: The retainer wasn’t $2,500, it was $2,500 + $250 per person + $2,000 per month until the case ended. And for what? This attorney didn’t propose: • Discovery • A counterclaim • A demurrer • ANY actual defense strategy He didn’t even pretend to care. For contrast: I hired a legitimate eviction defense service for $500. They reviewed the documents, filed a demurrer, and got the case dismissed. Something this “law firm” never even mentioned. If they had any shame, they'd return my parents' money. I contacted the email listed in the owner’s reply. They never responded. Not even a basic acknowledgment. Their public response suggests they’re willing to address concerns, but in reality, they ignored my outreach entirely. This confirms the pattern I described in my review.

Make it understood that they do not work on contingency, and, unless the damages are in the upper 100Ks, you will most likely be wasting time and effort with this firm. At very best, they appear to be as much as of Charletons as the people they propose to protect you from. Speak to Legal Aid.

Dishonest and false advertisement. Says they help with landlord harassment on the website. Without stipulations, but when you contact them they will state there has to be an injury involved. Even though it clearly states they assist with harassment claims. Hire at your own risk.

I sent $275 for a 30 minute consultation of an attorney who stated word for word: You have two options, you can leave or try to stay but I can't guarantee we will win and then it stays on your record for 10 years. The eviction was already identified as illegal in nature, but I contacted the firm for compensation for retaliation eviction and constructive eviction which they stated they handled and after payment stated they don't handle.

I called this law office today in regards to a parking situation happening within my apartment complex, unlike other attorneys offices that I've called they listen to my situation and they gave me a direct contact number that today solved my situation! I believe any professional who takes time out of their day to assist people deserves to be recognized and they absolutely deserve your business.

My experience with the Offices of Mark S. Martinez was a good one. The attorney that oversaw my case was Mark Castellanet. Mark C was very knowledgeable and was able to give me great legal advice throughout our case. Evictions can be a game of chess, especially with emotional, stubborn, egotistical, and entitled slumlords. Mark C’s knowledge and experience with evictions gave my family and I a good outcome. If I were to be in the same situation in the future, I would contact this law firm again to get the job done. Shoutout to Luis and Tony for assisting as well!
